Oda wants to make everyone laugh and thats why one piece is goofy lol but it can get dark real quick too. You'll also get to see crazy fights so just be patient with it you'll definitely enjoy this journey❤

Fun fact Sanji's voice actor plays Karoo the duck. Also (idk if this was already explained in other comments) the episodes with Koby and Helmeppo are actually animated cover stories just like the Buggy side episodes. They are 100% canon of course but their content comes from a collection of manga chapter covers all put together into episodes rather than actual manga chapter content.

It's funny, oda penned this arc in like 1999-2000, I won't spoil anything of course, all I will say is every arc has a purpose though it may not be apparent until years or decades later. Edit - My fellow manga readers, just reply with 👍, One Piece never stopped popping off, and still does so to this day, especially in the current arc that is being written.

Love how Luffy is the hero in Coby's dream😂😂, and I love how he holds Luffy's words and conviction to heart. So what do you guys think of anime Garp's personality and vibe compared to the LA? Oda continues to add little touches that migrate Ms Wednesday to Princess Vivi; The latter is brave and wants to fenture the island whereas the former felt cowardly. With Vivi's line about how differently advanced each island and civilisation, Oda basically said, "I can set you anywhere, any time-period, for however long, and it will still fit the parameters of my world. Let us start with dinosaurs."

Maybe someone already talked about it, but Ussop's character is inspired by a real life person called Aesop, a Greek fabulist and storyteller that lived over 500 years BC credited with a number of fables now collectively known as Aesop's Fables. He is also called the "Father of fables" and fables are a form of lying. Also pay attention to Ussop's lies.

One thing I love about the Live Action is that they show more about other important side characters like the Garp taking helmeppo and Coby under his wing and training them together with his right hand man Bogart. Because the anime does the opposite, the more the characters seems important the less they show them for the mysterious effect. And also I can guarantee that This Dinosaur Island (Little Garden) those two giants and Laboon will be included in the Live action. They may shorten it but it will be included for sure 😉

Logpose is such an important device, that it demands the story to be told via hopping on island to island. A lot of media consumption that does not have this Rule of Logpose is like "dude that is just a side quest, we have a story, one goal, lets just go there, (looking at you avatar live action)" This device is inherent, like no one can question Oda's world building, they have to incorporate Grandline islands..and hence, the adventures will remain, take that Journalists, its The Quest, not a side quest.

Alright we got the boys getting special training from Garp, and introduction of the Giant Pirates Dorry and Broggy. The giants are such a cool race from way deep in the GL, like Broggy said. Yay! We got to see a little bit of Koby and the start of his training. It's funny you ask about the photographer, he actually has a name and a story behind him. lol Little Garden is a fun island, storywise and world building. So, we learn that each island processes on their own time. This one is an ancient island and because of that it takes one year for the loguepose to reset. Each island has a set amount of time you have to stay on the island to rest the loguepose. So, these islands are a side quest, this is just how you have to travel. These are the first giants you meet from Elbaf Island. This is also the introduction to Mr. 3. The dynamic of the crew, with Ussop and Nami trying to be brave, Zoro's and Sanji's relationship, and Luffy going at his own pace. Oh, the laughs, One Piece has a unique line of laughing, I hope once we get pretty far you guys judge who has the best laugh. lol Remember, the best part of this anime is the storytelling. Everything is connected and I am here to see you guys put those connections together!

It's quasi impossible to skip any island of this saga, at least without gaining the anger of the fandom. Sure, elements of some of these islands are not as beloved or even hated, but the very core of them is essential. They will very likely skip plot points and tighten a lot, though. Therein lies their biggest challenge!

better look for the enemies that each Strawhats will face. Just like here, Sanji who doesnt use hands in fight fought a Trex which is a dinosaur that cant really use its hands, Zoro fought the dinosaur with Three-Horn Style, while Luffy fought a long neck dinosaur which make sense cause Luffy can stretch and be long anytime he wants. This already occurs since Arlong Park (Sanji with his footwork fought the fishman with karate, Zoro the swordsman fought the octopus who also uses swords, and Usopp with the long nose fought the one with big mouth)

This is an important meta moment for Oda as a writer. He loves Vikings and specifically an older cartoon/anime (yes both - since it was a European/Japanese co production) named "Wickie und die starken Männer" (In northern European languages W and V are switched as you prbly know) In English its just called "Viki the Viking". Originally a German children's book from the 60s by a Swedish author, the anime was produced in the 70s by German/Austrian public access television made by a Japanese studio. Europeans tend to know this one more from childhood. Idk if it was ever aired in the US. Its a fun romp, but for kids ofc. A young Viking who solves problems with brain not brawn and is a little bit cowardly actually... sound familiar? :D Anyway - young Oda loved this show and its a large part of why OP even exists along with other classics ofc such as "Treasure Island" (which has also had anime versions - lots of classic books became animes in the 60s-80s period. Its gotten rare nowadays) Just some useless info for trivia nights! :D :D :D Cheers guys!

The 4kids dub was a nightmare, they changed a lot of things Willy nilly because they thought it was a kids show when they bought the rights to dub it and couldn’t have all this blood and violence. They’d also ‘Americanize’ things that didn’t need to be Americanized. If you ever see a sandwich in pokemon instead of a rice ball you are seeing the remnants of the 4kids handy work. In fact there’s a remnant in this set of episodes. Garp was eating donuts but it should have been rice crackers.

As others said. They can't skip out Laboon or the Giant part. It is crazy how much comes back around again in this show. I don't like shows when they put in stuff just to make the show longer or something and One Piece is a show that feels like the opposite.
