The aesthetic seems appropriate for a special anniversary release, just something unique and out of the ordinary, and won't make regular release collectors feel like they're missing out if they skip this one. The look is def interesting with the mixed medium look, but the clear plastic worries me. Waiting to hear your review and comparisons of the Threezero ROBO-DOU vs Arcadia. They've done some good things and taken a lot of queues from DX Chogokin.

I would love a full chrome VF like the Iron model kits or the Takara Votoms. I really don't trust transparent parts, especially on transforming toys.

Wish I could get my hands on a DX VF-1 toy without having to sell my kidneys. Had to settle for the Threezero ROBO-DOU version (don't regret btw).

I have the 1J. The three zero brand are so cool. I also preordered the 1S. Once the 1J weathered version is up. I may get that, too.

The Three zero VF - 1 toys are less expensive than Bandai DX Chogokin toys - for many reasons. While ThreeZero have ; all the "gimmicks' (but still use side cavity "gap fillers" parts, lol), and those sweet paint details (long as QC is good), they are also far smaller, cheaper built, more fragile, and some have had problems with forearm and elbows matching up to work properly. Bandai DX Chogokin (approx 1 / 48 scale), and Arcadia "version2" 1 / 60 and "version 2" 1 / 48 scale (few released so far) Macross transforming mecha toys are still the best, and they charge accordingly. ThreeZero VF - 1's seem slightly better than KitzConcept in quality and size. But they will get competition from UNIX SQUARE in Q2 of next year - those VF - 1's will have ; fewer "gimmicks", less paint details, and be closer to a "scale" size - all for $10 *more than* the ThreeZero toys... lols

Thanks for another great video! I get the feeling you aren’t big on the plastic scheme with this one, certainly seems garish to me. Have you considered purchasing Threezero’s VF-1J? They also have the 1S coming next year.

@ seemed about right for original sale price as far as I can tell. Waiting with bated breath for your review mate! I can’t help but think perhaps I should have gone HMR because there is just so many to collect there, whereas 000 only has one with the Roy coming next year I’ll likely be dead before they have any more than the original 4 they announced!

If you want more "die cast" try KitzConcept - but they are slightly smaller, with fewer "gimmicks", but also can cost a bit less money as well.

Having an overabundance of clear plastic on a VF is a recipe for a nightmare. I'll stick with what I have.

Why can’t they release VF-19 in 1/48 scale? Love the size of my VF-1 but just releasing the same model in different paint schemes is kinda dull imo. Altough, Ostritch is kinda different. So Bandai, give us a new awsome 1/48 model.

Yeah and considering they can release max and miriya VF1J variants just by a recolor, they haven't even done yet, even as a PBANDAI.

The price will be outrageously expensive. Remember that VF-1 is very small compared to later VFs and thus it can have 1/48 toys which is only slightly bigger than 1/60 YF-19. A 1/48 YF-19 will be glorious for sure but it's gonna be unreasonably too big and expensive for most people.

@ the VF-1 fully kitted aint cheap and usually sell out on release so most people buy em from second hand market and so on. Yes it will be more expensive but it will be sold out on release even if it cost 150% of an VF1 is my guess at least. When Fokker was released you had to spam F5 to even get one and they went fast. The Hasegawa 1/48 VF19 is big but it isn’t “to big” imo :)

This is a part of the "1 / 48 (scale) line". And Bandai did "reissue" the VF - 1J "Rick Hunter" / "Hikaru Ichijo" custom, when they put out the "Armored' (GBP) VF-1J in a set and sold separately.

Yeesh! Not a fan of the color scheme. The glossy paint and dark gray is not doing it for me. Any word on Bandai doing any other Macross mecha in 1/48 scale?

Nope, 1/60 for all other DX and 1/90 to 1/100 for all HMR.

Worst vf1 by far, along with kakizaki and the orange training one. Roy and Hikaru are by far my 2 favourites. Headsculpt and colors. Max and Milia are on par with them character wise, the valks, not so much.
