@KBThaBandhead Txsu arrangement of SKIN is OLDER THAN SOUTHERN's! Txsu have been playing that particular arrangement since the 80's, Southern didn't start playing their arrangement till 2002 at the bayou classic. History lesson

Actually Texas Southern started playing Skin when Richard F. Lee and Darryl Singleton came over from Howard university in 93/94 after Ben Butler had to step down because of the Tokyo incident. If you go and listen to Howard’s original version (Written by Dr. Adolf Wright) then compare it to Texas Southerns (Written by Mr. Singleton), they definitely have a lot of similarities and a few differences. The chopped and screwed part was added to it to give it a more Houstonian cultural feel which was originated by the late Houston mix-tape artist “DJ Screw”. I personally love the arrangement. By the time 2011 came around , Texas Southern wasn’t playing skin because southern had it in their book. It literally became a part of tradition particularly for homecoming. Notice you’ll never see Texas Southern playing skin before October. TSU and SU saw eachother in November that year (2011)
@MrPesante20082 жыл бұрын
@@travismaurice6308 actually Dr. Adolf Wright wrote Skin for HU. I was a freshman in 95 at HU, and HU was playing that before that year. The first time I head SU play it was in 87.

Yes the Tubas has come up. Mainly because they were on them cheap fiber glasses. So glad Haymer switched to the metal tubas. Also KB, people forget Haymer was writing most of SU fire arrangements after Cornell Knight retired from SU. Simmons and Taylor definitely were inspired heavily by Haymer with their arrangements.

Lord have mercy...smdh...bro this wasnt a battle to be graded its a all time classic battle...its called murk city because at the time SU 2011-2012 was the best band editions they had since 99 they was destroying anything moving in their path them 2 years txsu in this 2011 zero was the only band to go toe to toe with them boys eapecially for being that small....go to the original video it has over 200k views and read the comments PLEASE people were pleased with the fact that ol small txsu was holding they own against SU...this will forever be an all time classic 0 qtr battle...and i repeat nobody and i mean nobody came even close to su these years only txsu stood up on dem boys
