In 2007, Napoleon Murphy Brock, who is a major part of this video as singer and Sax player, performed with Sandy Utah, School of Rock in a Frank Zappa Tribute. My daughter, 11 then, had just joined School of Rock. After the show, she and I went to talk to Napoleon. She told him she played flute, like him, and also guitar. We talked a bit about music, and then moved on so that others could chat with Napoleon. The director of the school told us that the next day, just before Napoleon got on his plane to leave Salt Lake City, that he called to say he'd met a little blonde, blue-eyed girl that impressed him. He saw it in her eyes, and he was going to send something for her. We thought it was cool, but figured a busy performer wouldn't have time to get around to that. However, a month later, a package arrived at the school for my daughter. It included a CD of music, and a number of flute practice exercises from Napoleon. He'd seen something in my daughter's eyes, and it moved him to help. Flash forward to 2015. She's 17 and a senior in high school. She recently received a letter from Berklee College of Music informing her of her acceptance in the performance program as a guitarist. When Napoleon met her, she was terrified. Today, she believes in herself, and is so confident on stage. His belief in her made such a difference. It helped her believe in herself. A couple of years after she met Napoleon, she met Dweezil after a show. I want to call out just how much you wonderful musicians make a difference. Your excellence motivates others and changes lives. The music of Frank lives on in your lives, and in the lives of the following generations. Thank you!

The best music i know is from Frank Zappa.I still hear somthing new in his recordings after 40 years listening to his records.There is so many nyanses and details.much off his music needs a active listener and time to get used to his frasing and type melody structure.But when you get it you like it for a lifetime.Music that you like at once are soon forgotten. i think it is the same for many music lovers out there.The mind is like a parashute,it has to be open to work.as Zappa said.Sorry for my bad english writing.Got some flack for it.Someone high on their horse, expression comes to mind.

3 things... 1) I knew exactly what you meant (I'm looking at content not grading on English skills). 2) If I knew you well enough I'd give you some shit for making me count back. 46 years since a Senior bass player turned this rookie Sophomore sax player in the high school stage band on to Lumpy Gravy. 3) I appreciated Frank from the get go but my appreciation and understanding are growing still. I miss Frank but great googley moogley I am thankful for Dweezil carrying on!

I get chills when I think of seeing Frank and little Steve at the Stanley Theatre in Pittsburgh around 1974. Now that same Older Steve is playing with Frank's son. That must blow Steve and Dweezil away. I certainly respect what Dweezil and his various bands have done to bring Frank's music to life again.

I LOVE the duo guitar solo between S. Vai and D. Zappa. I'm going to call it slightly for Mr. Zappa as he was calm and collected during the duo and had more freshness at the end while Mr. Vai kinda just twanged the same strings. That said, Steve would beat my behind on guitar, so there it is...

I have really lived this DVD since I discovered it... not long ago!! I never thought Dweezil was that great a guitarist.... he blows me away! .....and Steve (Vai) who I have listened to for years now.. together (Steve and Dweezil) brilliant!! I loved Terry Bozzio since I discovered FZ and the 'Mothers' when I was 19 and playin' with a band who the lead guitarist was a zappa 'fanatic'.. and I was heavily influenced by (I Play guitar) I am pretty sure that is Ray White on vocals on this DVD... as I have recently read that 'Ike Willis' wasn't played with ZPZ? if anyone knows for sure let me know please... (it looks like an older Ray White, and the voice and from memory Ike was bigger than Ray? anyways love the Vid.. Thanks 'Andras' (I have listened to all this concert 4 times this week!)

Love the totally upsetting guitar solo in "The Torture Never Stops". Dweezil is playing a left-handed guitar upside down. A Hendrix tribute I suppose.
@skeeter1971405 жыл бұрын
Not to nitpick but the guitar is a right-handed guitar.The headstock is reversed, so that's probably a neck from a left-handed guitar, but the body is a right-handed guitar. If it was left-handed, the jack would be at the top, the knobs would be at the top, and the longer horn would be on the bottom. Just wanted to point that out. He does own a Hendrix strat, so there's that.

Dweezil is good - but NOT stupid.I think that´s a realistic italian opinion about the frame he packages into the MAD continual conceptions of his father´s beard that seems sometimes to coincide with the political views that are outrageous outforced on political statements that are ON DEVICE given to the ordinarily ROCK n ROLL concert audience around the world...Ian Anderson (he should invite him...just for the sake of speech,hehe)
