Check out "God Friended Me" on CBS ( you can view episodes on their website). Great show! Brand new last Fall. No, it's not a churchy-feely show, it's a reality based on a professed atheist (with a priest for a father) and how God uses him to help others and change the world. Probably won't last long because it is clean and uplifting, but it's fantastic! Also, "Heartland" offered by CBC (Canada) is a winner! They're loved by the world and are in their 12th season. You can watch it on PureFlix.com and on KZbin (just the earlier seasons). Great, wholesome, uplifting entertainment. :-)

They're actually bringing it back. There's a new Christmas movie on the CW, airing November 28th. It has a new cast obviously. Richard Thomas will be the narrator. If the movie does well, it's going to be a back door pilot to a series or more movies. They haven't decided yet.

Thank God for him and his real family life that gave us this amazing show. As a native Virginian going back multiple generations of family from the foothills and the Blue Ridge itself this show will forever touch my heart because it’s literally a show about MY people live on screen. Nothing brings me back to those carefree childhood days like seeing a show like this to remind me. ❤️

It was around 2001, I got to attend a can't club reunion with the whole cast. The transparents had passed away, not very many fans were there and we got to sit at the tables and dine with them. Could ask questions and take pictures. They were all very kind. Mary McDough loaned her car to the fan club president to take me back to the airport.

I raised my boys on this show (and many others from the 50's/60's/70's bc we didn't have broadcast tv just VHS/DVD's) and they're mid 20's now & starting to show them to their own young children. I also think you can stream it in many places like METV or Inspiration, so you can still show it to your own children.

I'm in my twenties and I watch it on DVD growing up. My favorite family-friendly show made in the last few years if you're looking for recommendations for kids is the Mysterious Benedict Society, unfortunately it's not on Disney plus right now so I'm not sure where it would be available to watch. I read the books in middle school.

@PDippy7720 2 жыл бұрын
@@tammyh.9015 So wait…people weren’t selfish and materialistic before or during the Great Depression? Because there are countless pieces of evidence disproving that. You think the Depression brought people together? How’s about the fact that the FBI had to be formed just in response to all the bank robberies? What about the record-number of men who abandoned their families? How about the fact that one of the big reasons for the Depression was the greed of the 1920s and the illegal investment practices of the tycoons of that era (such as shortening and insider trading in general)? And if you don’t think most people still see the value in the family unit today, then I don’t know what to tell you, because you’re just rejecting reality.

The Waltons is one of my all-time favorite shows. I watched it on CBS originally, and still watch it today. I have never gotten tired of it, and never will. I grew up in Nelson County, VA (the real-life Jefferson County), so that's another thing that made the show so popular with me.

I'm SOOOOO glad that MeTV started showing "The Waltons" reruns again. With ALL the CRAP shows on television today, "The Waltons" has easily become my favorite "Go To" show when I want to feel good. Where are shows like this today ??? Our country NEEDS them !!!!!!!!!!

Amen Maurice! 99% of the stuff on CBS, NBC, ABC, etc. is ALL GARBAGE and NOT even worth watching. The main channels I watch on TV is "MeTV, Antenna TV, Grit, Start TV, ION, and others that all play "Old Shows." Or in other words, "GOOD SHOWS."

@@BG3Productions I am an old soul at heart and watching The Waltons makes me yearn for a time depicted in this program. The simple life, yes, of struggles, but also a time of community, faith, and love. Today's society is so far from this. It truly saddens me.

Think everybody watched The Waltons back in the seventies in the U.K. 'cos we didn't have many channels to choose from - not like the multitude today. It was shown on a Sunday evening, and was a mellow and wholesome end to a week.However, in my mind that iconic and instantly memorable theme music is forever linked to the sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that the weekend was over, and you had to go to school the next day - boo!

This is the most wonderful show ever!! All of the actors played their parts magnificently. I had the pleasure of meeting Mary McDonough at a book signing, and she's just as gracious and sweet as you'd expect. My Mom, who lived through the Depression, watched the show when it first came out and she'd say, "We wore clothes like that! We did that!" I am a writer and loved John-Boy. His character, the real Earl Hamner, was sensitive but strong. I wish I could meet Mr. Thomas. He is so talented at getting to the heart of a character and expressing his emotions. I love the Waltons Hindenburg scene, when John-Boy was sent to write about its arrival. After it set on fire, he encountered a burned victim of the crash who spoke German to him. John-Boy replied, "I can't understand you!" And then he said over & over to himself, " I can't understand it." And his Daddy said, "Now you can write your story, Son." And wow, the anguish Mr. Thomas showed when he played Hank Williams, Jr., who fell down Ajax Mountain 500 feet and lost the right side of his face. Wow.

I loved The Waltons back in the 1970s and love watching the reruns as much today. They never get old to me. Sad that so many of the cast members are gone. But then we can enjoy them in the reruns. The shows are the best. Better than what is on tv these days. Anyone could watch them without having to screen mirror children watching content and just family oriented. The one series that was right. Thank you for these beautiful memories of The Waltons.
