Check out "God Friended Me" on CBS ( you can view episodes on their website). Great show! Brand new last Fall. No, it's not a churchy-feely show, it's a reality based on a professed atheist (with a priest for a father) and how God uses him to help others and change the world. Probably won't last long because it is clean and uplifting, but it's fantastic! Also, "Heartland" offered by CBC (Canada) is a winner! They're loved by the world and are in their 12th season. You can watch it on PureFlix.com and on KZbin (just the earlier seasons). Great, wholesome, uplifting entertainment. :-)

This show was well written, and was in tune with the the people of that time, who knew the struggle of the depression. A show about a closenit family, who truly cares for one another. It's sad People today cannot see the value in family members, and have gotten so far away from moral structure.

@PDippy77202 жыл бұрын
@@tammyh.9015 So wait…people weren’t selfish and materialistic before or during the Great Depression? Because there are countless pieces of evidence disproving that. You think the Depression brought people together? How’s about the fact that the FBI had to be formed just in response to all the bank robberies? What about the record-number of men who abandoned their families? How about the fact that one of the big reasons for the Depression was the greed of the 1920s and the illegal investment practices of the tycoons of that era (such as shortening and insider trading in general)? And if you don’t think most people still see the value in the family unit today, then I don’t know what to tell you, because you’re just rejecting reality.

This is the most wonderful show ever!! All of the actors played their parts magnificently. I had the pleasure of meeting Mary McDonough at a book signing, and she's just as gracious and sweet as you'd expect. My Mom, who lived through the Depression, watched the show when it first came out and she'd say, "We wore clothes like that! We did that!" I am a writer and loved John-Boy. His character, the real Earl Hamner, was sensitive but strong. I wish I could meet Mr. Thomas. He is so talented at getting to the heart of a character and expressing his emotions. I love the Waltons Hindenburg scene, when John-Boy was sent to write about its arrival. After it set on fire, he encountered a burned victim of the crash who spoke German to him. John-Boy replied, "I can't understand you!" And then he said over & over to himself, " I can't understand it." And his Daddy said, "Now you can write your story, Son." And wow, the anguish Mr. Thomas showed when he played Hank Williams, Jr., who fell down Ajax Mountain 500 feet and lost the right side of his face. Wow.

Loved the show then and still love it today. I'll never get tired of watching the show over, and over again. Watched it every Thursday night at 8pm on CBS in the 70's.

they said exactly the same thing then, that it would never work then, it was a very turbulent time with Nixon and the war, they did not expect it to last the first season but people found it and loved it for the escape it gave them and it would work again if it was well written and acted

THE SCENE WHERE RICHARD AND THE PARENTS AND GRANDPA, ARE ON THE PORCH AND HE IS GETTING READY TO TELL THEM HE IS LEAVING WALTONS MOUNTAINS, WOW THAT SCENE STILL MAKES ME CRY EVERYTIME I SEE IT. SO MOVING AND SO TOUCHING. THIS SHOW NEEDS TO BE SHOWN EVERYDAY ALL DAY ON TELEVISION. THE WORLD MAY NOT BE IN SUCH A DEPRESSED STATE NOW. THIS SHOW WAS SUCH A WONDERFUL SHOW. THANK YOU EARL HAMNER AND THANK YOU TO ALL THE CAST MEMBERS.

I loved The Waltons back in the 1970s and love watching the reruns as much today. They never get old to me. Sad that so many of the cast members are gone. But then we can enjoy them in the reruns. The shows are the best. Better than what is on tv these days. Anyone could watch them without having to screen mirror children watching content and just family oriented. The one series that was right. Thank you for these beautiful memories of The Waltons.

What really made this even better, if that's even possible, is the real actors and their love of each other on set and off set...the way they have lived their lives and treated their fans since this show, has been nothing short of greatness.
