"'Father, I'm carrying twins!' is the secret code word for, 'please stop Clive, my back's going'." LOL. I like both Clive AND Drew. Monumentally different senses of humor and styles, but I like them both. For those who say that say hate that Drew played the games, just remember that Drew didn't want to, the network forced him to do it. He had never done it before and he struggled to learn as much as he could in as short a time as possible to do it some justice and make ABC Family happy. I heard that in an interview with Colin; he said Drew really loved improv and he did the best he could. By the time Improvaganza rolled around, he was doing really well.... just takes time the network wouldn't give him.

The reason Drew Carey felt the need to keep saying "the points don't matter" over and over was because of a combination of these two things about American TV: (1) The US simply does not have any comedy panel shows. It's a format that doesn't exist here. So audiences are unfamiliar with the format of keeping an irrelevant score. The natural assumption is that if there's a score, it must be a game show of some sort. (2) The other reason is that until the 2000's American shows were designed NOT to have continuing story from one episode to the next. Each episode had to be self-contained so people could jump in the middle of something without having to see earlier episodes. The style of series where episode 2 doesn't make sense unless you've seen episode 1 was just not done. That meant that each show had to be treated as a self-contained item. And that means repeating the information each episode just in case someone is seeing it for the first time.
@Nerossu10 жыл бұрын
It's improv "the points don't matter" was a joke in itself. Not every comedy show in the US is stand-up

Likely just a matter of people growing weary of the format. Whose Line UK went 10 seasons and Whose Line US 14 (Including the relaunch). Then the Green Screen Show. It was still mining comedy gold but not everyone seemed to agree. With that style and fresh talent it should have gone on indefinitely as far as I'm concerned.

@virg0_lem0nade Жыл бұрын

The newsflash game at 3:35 needed to go on a little bit longer, like it does in the US version. The goal is for the interviewers to ask questions that hint at what's behind the reporter in a punny or indirect way. But all Greg and Colin had time to ask was: "What's happening behind you?" "How did this all start?" "Can you describe what's happening behind you now?" That's all they're able to get in before Clive asks Ryan if he knows where he's at. There were literally no clues given, which is why Ryan just had the ridiculous shot-in-the-dark guess.

I want this show back, I'm sick of those 'comedy' quiz shows that can only rip the **** out of celebrities these days, requiring no imagination.. and no, they aren't 'intelligent humour'. US vs UK? Both different. Forever chanting audiences and a louder presenter that participates can either enhance the feel or ruin a show completely (ask Jerry Springer). A laid back quiet presenter with dry humor can either tone down the comedy mood entirely or make the jokes seem funnier because of the huge difference between what he gives out and what the contestants give out. Flip a coin. They are one and the same show, and most importantly usually featured the same contestants, which were all very good
@mickmickymick69275 жыл бұрын
The pace of the UK one is faster, which prevents a game or a gag running on too long. The games are also more physical-comedy based. Also Clive is better (though not amazing either), all these add up to make the British version better, despite the contestants being mostly the same.
