This video, and every one you make regarding AS/A level psychology is very, very useful. I have found in my A level Psychology textbook by Juliana Russell, Fiona Lintern, Lizze Gauntlett,Jamie Davies that the rest of the children ( those who were not rated by 2 observers on aggression prior to the experiment) were rated by only one observer, and that similar levels of aggression were produced.
@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11003 жыл бұрын
Yes I think that's correct, the remaining children were rated by only 1 observer.

@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11004 жыл бұрын
@@Samrins_Art my apologies for the late reply. Yes I have seen that other videos and the textbook say the kids went into Room 2 first. However, I believe that is incorrect. If you read the original study in PDF you will see that the authors have written that the kids go into the Experimental room1 first and then the Aggression Arousal room2 second and the Observation Room room3 last. If you think about it, it makes sense that the Aggression Arousal is 2nd. So that the kids will be freshly "aroused" before being asked to go to the final room. Do read the study in depth and let me know what you find.
@Samrins_Art4 жыл бұрын
@@cambridgea-levelspsycholog1100 thank you soo much.. Yeah it does make sense because if the children are aroused 1st and then taken to the experimental room and then the observation room.. The children can be distracted by other toys and the model and their aggression arrousal can decrease by the time they get to the observation room. I tried it on my kids my 7 year old actually forgot that he was supposed to be upset by the time i reached the observation stage.. It was hilarious🤣🤣
@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11004 жыл бұрын
@@Samrins_Art Hahah nice that you got to test it out in real life! But do read the study thoroughly; I am actually rather surprised other videos and even the textbook seems to have mixed up the order of the rooms.

for your question about the rating of the remaining children that were not part of the 51, yes they were rated but by only one observer because there was already high inter rater reliability so bandura felt only one could continue

We discussed this in our classroom aswell, only 51 students were rated by the second observer (inter-rater reliability) because when testing for mentioned reliability, if the two observers are able to agree on a similar ratings for 51 students there appears to be less need for the rest 21 kids to be tested. As a positive coefficient is already established, the researcher can determine inter rater reliability after half or more than half of the sample is tested again by another researcher and similar results are produced!
@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11003 жыл бұрын
Yes that is a good point, however, I personally feel that approach lacks the scientific rigour of testing all the students. In my opinion, if they had already tested most of them, they might as well have tested all the students too. Unfortunately, the authors themselves do not specify why they didn't observe all the students.

hi sir, thank you for making such a high-quality video. But I do have a question, plz help~ In the gender differences part, for question 3 "which gender showed more verbal aggression", you explained that girls did. But I see the total number for girl subjects showing verbal aggression is 13.7+2.0=15.7, which is actually smaller than boy subjects, which is 4.3+12.7=17.0 (41:54 in the video ). I am just a bit confused about this part. Again thank you for your video, really appreciate it!
@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11002 жыл бұрын
Hello, what I meant to say was that Girls being influenced by the female model showed more Verbal Aggression compared to the boys. Which is why the Girls score for that is 13.7 is the highest in the whole table for Verbal Aggression. For the boys the highest score is only 12.7. In total however, Boys show more aggression that girls in general.

Your videos are really helpful! I had a question, why is that the children in the non-aggressive condition are likely to be less aggressive than those in the no model condition ?
@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11002 жыл бұрын
Hello Good question. I believe it's because children imitate the behaviours that they see So when there is NO MODEL = the children have NOBODY to imitate When there is a NON-AGGRESSIVE MODEL = the children will imitate and show less aggression because they saw someone being non-aggressive. -------------------------------------- If you would like to kindly donate towards my channel to keep it alive I would greatly appreciate that. I just wanted to confirm that did the children go in the experimental room first then go to the aggression arousal room or first go to the aggression arrousal room then go to the experimental room. In this video you have explained that the children went to the experimental room first and then go to the aggression arrousal room but in the book it is the other way around. Please help me clearify this point
@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11004 жыл бұрын
Hello Samrin, Yes I believe the textbook has an error. I read the study carefully and I am very sure that the kids went into the experimental room FIRST (watching the adult), and then SECOND the aggression arousal room (playing with the nice toys and having it taken away), and then THIRD in the observation room (performing the behaviour). When in doubt, do consult the original study text and read it thoroughly.

Hi,thank you for the video. I have a query, in the gender differences section the 4th question states, "Which model gender influenced girls more" and the answer you stated female subjects 13.7. This belongs to the category imitative verbal aggression. What happens in the imitative physical aggression category? Because in that category, the male models have influenced females more! Please help
@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11003 жыл бұрын
You chose to separate between Physical Aggression scores and Verbal Aggression scores. I did not separate them. If you add the scores up for the female subjects overall you will see that the Female model overall had more influence on the female subjects compared to the Male model on the female subjects. If you want to separate the and address Physical and Verbal separately, that's fine. Just be aware of what the question asks in the exam.

Why the girls imitated male model more in aggressive group?
@cambridgea-levelspsycholog11003 жыл бұрын
Because children generally copy the behaviours of adults that they are watching. This is evidence for the concept of Observational Learning
