Nice episode. I also ranked their albums and I'm a sucker for those late 70's albums. Definitely their best era. The drumming was a bit dumbed down on certain 80s records so. Cheers!

52:31 yeah... what the hell is he talking about??? There’s maybe 2 weak songs out of 8. Invaders is the worst. Gangland is not great but it has its moments. The rest is great! Children of the Damned, The Prisoner, 22 Acacia Avenue, Run to the Hills, Number of the Beast, and Hallowed be thy Name are all classics.

Tell Daniel he is wrong about Number of the Beast , there are quite a few classic bangers on that Album, I actually prefer Killers and Piece of Mind but Cmon man Number of the Beast is a classic, Children of the Damned,22 acacia ave, Number of the Beast ,Hallowed be thy name and Run to the Hills put That album on S tier if you do a Maiden list
@xenos_n.2 жыл бұрын
Gangland really brings it down, Run To The Hills & Hallowed is way overrated imo, Invaders is ok, the rest are bangers. It's a great album but definitely not their best and overrated. It doesn't even make it into my top five.

Recently I find myself listening to Redeemer of Souls more so than Firepower. Firepower was alright but it didn't have any songs that stood out, but as soon as any song from Redeemer comes on I know what album it is. Best song on there is Metalizer!

Great to see the Priest catalogue dissected with such detail. As a life long fan it was tough but entertaining to watch. Easy for me: Tier S: Stained Class, Killing Machine, British Steel, Point Of Entry, Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders Of The Faith, Turbo, Ram It Down, Painkiller Tier A: Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings Of Destiny, Sin After Sin Tier B: Angel Of Retribution, Firepower Tier C: Jugulator, Demolition, Redeemer Of Souls Why: Nostradamus As an aside the '86 live concert video from the Turbo tour is the greatest live show ever recorded IMO. I watched it so many times when I got it on VHS I wore the tape out and had to buy another, still watch it regularly to this day. \m/

I 100% agree with some of these early Priest/Queen comparisons. Priest in my humble opinion didn’t become a full blown “metal band” until “British Steel”
@mylovesongs24292 жыл бұрын
Turbo should be last. The use of guitar synths was a big time departure of their heaviness. The album was too poppy. "Private Property"? What about "Eat Me Alive", mates? "Parential Guidance"? C'mon, gimme some "Rapid Fire", guys! I believe the follow up album, Ram It Down, was superior!

My tier list for Priest and Admittedly I was never a huge JP fan: S: SfV, Firepower, Sad Wings A: Defenders, Turbo, Painkiller, British Steal, Hell Bent, B: Stained Class, Sin After Sin, Angel C: Rocka, Redeemer, Ram it, Point or Entry, Jugulator Why?: Nostradamus, Demolition
@Storm_4092 жыл бұрын
Angel of Retribution is awesome. Love the ballads too. Ram It Down is underrated. I think "Love You To Death" and the cover of "Johnny B. Goode" let it down though. I prefer Firepower over Stained Class and Sin After Sin.

I feel like the Redeemer of souls should have been higher, I thought that was a pretty solid album. Also I feel the that Jugulator and Demolition were both pretty solid albums, I feel like they get a lot of hate for no reason, I personally though that Priest sounded heavier and angrier on those albums than anything else they have done.

I’m a Painkiller JP fan the best IMO and I’d take Point of Entry over Turbo any day. There are only three songs from Turbo I can still listen to - Turbo Lover, Out in the Cold, Reckless while POE has Heading, Hot Rock’n, Desert Plains, Solar Angels, Troubleshooter, On the Run. Groove metal at its best.

Unpopular opinion, British Steel and Killing Machine/Hell Bent for Leather are filled with fillters I think, and Point of Entry. Screaming for Vengeance is the first album since Stained Class in my opinion that actually is pretty good, but Defenders is better I think (except for the titular song and maybe 1 or two others).

Agreed with a lot of the list except In my opinion Sad Wings is top S and British Steel is A and below Killing Machine easily also you guys have not heard Jugulator or Demolition enough or possibly at all if you’re ranking them that low they are easily B and C. With B tier being in order of Turbo Jugulator and Ram it Down and Demolition being in C with the order being Rock n Rolla Point and Demolition put some RESPECT on Tim’s name he’s a fantastic singer and KK’s priest is also AWESOME and Angel is last in A. The only Why tier in my opinion is Nostradamus.

I think the Ripper albums didn't sell not because it was with another singer, the band just couldn't (or didn't want to) write for shit. Jugulator though, about 60% of that album is pretty great, Demolition is almost worthless. They wasted Ripper's talent, with him, they could've done anything, even a Painkiller 2 (but heavier).

Ive never been a big fan of Judas Priest but at least now I fully understand why when it comes to.... Maybe 10ish years ago or so I randomly heard the song Painkiller, and was like "this is Judas Priest? I've been missing out" bought the Painkiller album and loved it. But when I tried to dig a lil deeper trying out maybe 2 or 3 random priest albums I didn't like em at all. And I was confused why I loved Painkiller so much but couldn't get into any of their other albums. So thank you for saying that they were like a whole nother band and nothing else sounds like that album. As a newish/outsider to Judas Priest it explains a lot. Painkiller still f**kin ROCK!!!
@MetalPersonJ2 жыл бұрын
I have to correct Daniel on one thing. First of all, Martin will agree with you on Number of the Beast being overrated. He says so in his "Collector's guide to the 80s" book. He also thinks Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son are inferior to the reunion era albums (an opinion I violently disagree with).
@MoonOvIce2 жыл бұрын
I actually think Somewhere and Seventh are probably two of the greatest Iron Maiden albums of all time. Apparently, people don't care or like lyrics about the "occult", and time and other things...or care about lyrics at all.
