Very helpful review, thanks John. I have been after a set of these and as it is for the same lathe you cant get a better heads-up than that. Set on order.

Splendid video John! I like your honest reviews and look forward to each one. You usually review tools from Bang Good which is lovely place to acquire tooling at a good price which is necessary for us hobby machinists. Thanx

Thanks John for that. I have ordered the parting tool as I was very impressed by previous videos. I have a lot of problems with my current HSS tooling.

You were giving some thick cuts, boy! the tool works great. I did not see any fractures or worn edges. Great tool, thanks

Great video John, I use the same tools and have got on well with them I even used a dcmt070204 insert to cut a 6 tpi whitworth thread and it worked fine.

Thanks Craig, I should have a video of threading using thoes inserts early August. I would like to find a boring bar with the right alignment of the insert so I can cut internal threads too
@noelhenderson7006 жыл бұрын
I've used TCMT triangular inserts to cut large threads. I don't see any reason they wouldn't do fine threads too. Probably more accurate than grinding my own HSS threading tool.

Nice video as usual John, I think they takes a bit of beating for the money, and you can afford a bit of variety to find what suits you! Bought some of the Cobalt drill bits as well and am well impressed with them, think I should get some more!

John with our lathes the carbide grade isn’t as critical. Actually we can’t get the most out of some of the newer grades. The inexpensive Chinese inserts work fine for us. I some bangood cut off inserts and they perform well.

Fortnight, that's two weeks for our American young people. LOL Thanks John, I recently purchased the same set from Banggood. I haven't had a chance to use them as of yet. This shows me I made a pretty good choice. Great tool review video. See you this weekend, Good Lord willing.

Great video, quick question you link two sets of cutter tips what’s the difference between them?
@jusb10666 жыл бұрын
good question, theres about 2 quids difference in price, but the same specs exactly between them, perhaps its just two suppliers and thus their pricing
@RyanWeishalla6 жыл бұрын
Could also be different coatings on them. There isn't much detail on each that I see.

John, ever used industrial plastics to make bushes? I like Vesonite, as it is both a lot cheaper than brass or bronze, and also is a much better material in slow and dry applications. You do need sharp tooling though for it, those look like some perfectly good ones to use on it as well.

I bought some smaller insert tools. The insert is about 1/4" on a side. I found the inserts chipped easily. The larger stuff does better, some still pretty poor Be prepared to try better inserts if you can find them Thanks

As a point of interest I purchased these based on the review and have to say great value for money BUT unfortunately one of the holders was faulty and the screw will not go in when the tip is in place, fair enough any supplier can have a problem but it’s how they resolve the issue that matters, I contacted Banggood using their system supplying the order details the part number of the faulty item a description of the fault and a photo showing the tip fitted and clearly showing the threaded hole of the holder through the tip so they could see the edge of the treaded hole was out of line with the hole in the tip therefore the thread won’t start, everything I would have expected them to require. The reply was can you supply the part number of the faulty item a description of the fault and a photo showing the fault and a video. I replied saying I had already done this and all I received was an email asking for a photo???? I’m not saying I would never buy from Banggood again but I’ll probably buy in the UK in future it’s easier and everything Banggood supply you can get on UK sites. I’m not that bothered as the rest of the items were worth more than the price I paid, and my time is more Precious to me than the hassle of trying to get it resolved. but that’s not the point.

I'd buy a set if they did them in 8mm holders,...I think that's the largest size my little lathe can take.
