I just finally started doing frontload after 2 months of doing sideload. Not having any experience in the industry they figured asl would be a good way to get exposed. I was surprised to see that our trucks actually have triangles 🔺️ instead of forks. They have air driven pins that lock one you go up to a certain point. Their actually in the process of changing all the cans to fork style because we could only get replacement parts through one guy who just retired. My trainer said he was shocked how well I did, I told him its from watching the hopper hustle on KZbin hahaha 😆

I noticed that you have cart tippers. Do you have quite a few stops that actually have carts?
@hopperhustle3 жыл бұрын
Definitely in the downtown area. One stop in particular you have to get down an alley to a parking garage entrance. There they keep 3 2yds and 10 toters that go 3x a week. It’s a workout ! I never used a cart tipper until I started working with this company. It took some getting used to but I’ve learned to love having those outside controls for many of my stops that have cans on casters.

What kind of suspension is under the truck? It looks rough. Thanks for sharing a fun video.
@hopperhustle2 жыл бұрын
I’ll have to double check exactly what suspension that truck has on it. Half the fleet I know has the standard chassis and suspension on them and the other half are custom. I will get back to you on this !
@tka19792 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I was just wondering if it was leaf springs or air suspension which I don't expect it to be. Or maybe some other kind. Here in Iceland where I'm from, we have air suspension on most trucks, which give a soft ride.
@hopperhustle2 жыл бұрын
Oh gotcha. Yes, I can definitely say they all do have leaf springs. Air suspension would be nice ! The cab-overs are not a comfortable ride but the custom suspension that the owner has half the trucks equipped with definitely help. I know our roll off trucks have air ride suspension.

Is your auto car a pretty good truck. I drive a mack with a heil body and the truck stays broke
@hopperhustle3 жыл бұрын
Yessir ! I started out in an early 2000s Mack MR with a Heil packer and I loved that truck. We had many others like it on the lot that were nearly identical that couldn’t stay running worth a damn so I understand your frustration. My experience with the Autocar ACXs had been very positive tho. Hope you can try one out for yourself soon ! Stay safe out there.

@@hopperhustle Thank you. You too

They just don't build Macks the way they used to. It's funny, Autocar took what was once a Volvo chassis and made it pretty solid, while Volvo took over Mack and the quality went down as the cabs got fancier...go figure.
@hopperhustle3 жыл бұрын
Yessir ! I gotta say I’m not a fan of the MRUs/TerraPro cabs. The old MRs are just the best.

You don't work early morning starting 2am like trash trucks around here do
@hopperhustle2 жыл бұрын
I’ve run routes in the past that start as early as midnight to as late as 5am. It definitely does vary depending on where the route is located. Downtown areas usually start at 2am or earlier while routes with a lot of apartments typically will start later around 4am-5am. I don’t mind 4am tho, it let’s me get just the right amount of sleep without sacrificing my social life.

This is an Allison automatic. I haven’t seen a manual FL before and I drove some dinosaurs back at the first company I worked at 😂

@@hopperhustle Yeah I’ve been looking at KZbin videos about driving FL since I got hired last week.
