Bangkok on the Sea - Bang Pu Sunset with the Seagulls - 20 minutes taxi ride from Kheha BTS station

Visited Bang Pu on the Sea. Just a 20 minute taxi ride from the last BTS station. It took us about 50 minutes to get there from Asoke BTS station with the BTS and taxi.
You can take the BTS till the last station called Kheha, from there you can jump in a taxi or take a songthaew. It is just a 15 to 20 minutes ride from the BTS, we paid 75 THB for the taxi.
We where actually amazed that we never did this before. It is really a nice thing to do in the evening.
Getting back was easy, there are songthaews (pick up trucks) that can bring you to the BTS station.

The highlight of Bang Pu Recreation Center is seagulls. There are various species of seagulls including Heuglin's Gull, Common Black-headed Gull, Mongolian Gull, and Slender-billed Gull. Each year, from October to May over 5,000 seasonal migrating seagulls migrate to stay at Bang Pu Recreation Center from the cold weather countries in Central Asia, like China, Mongolia, Tibet, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

I come to this area every winter time when i was young. Twenty years ago it's make by wood. Actually this area is belong to Thai military for the soldiers who get injury from Indochina war after recovery from the hospital then they will get a permission to take a rest in this area for two-three months before return to battle field again in Lao, Cambodia, South Vietnam. Before is very restricted to civilian, everyone have to show Thai ID at the check point before enter, but to today is open free for every one.

Cool videeeeo, amazing the displacement of people when the government calls a holiday in Thailand I think i would rather be in the mangrove bridge and away from those birds as they have amazing pinpoint accuracy with their droppings - that said my first association with mangroves is mosquitos so maybe the pier just edges it Love that GTM manages to get excited about another seemingly dead animal, this could be your next channel - Filming dead animals with Jeroen

Don't forget to stop by the Erawan elephant building on the way there, either by BTS or by car. It's quite remarkable. And then of course there's Ancient City monument park near by and that's well worth a visit.

Bang Pu is very cool. I took a Grab taxi there two years ago. I like that it is out of the way, and very little foreign tourists go there. Muang Boran is also very near there, and that is a very cool place as well. One can spend a whole day at Muang Boran and not see everything.

Seagulles are migants from cold zone (China, Mongoria, Siberia) to warm zone (Thailand) from November to April every year. The big building on the bridge is restaurant which many people are ballroom dancing activities every Saturday.

Actually there is a small part of Bangkok that connected to the sea within Bangkok's city limit. You have to go to the west side of the Chao Phraya river. That place called Bang Khun Tian. You will find a lot of good seafood restaurants there.

It is a nice place, there is a very rich mangrove forest and a lot of cute but funny silly birds.. hahaa I have been here twice a long time ago but it was much better because there weren't many crowded people back then.
