A study in 2020 warns that global warming will hit Bangkok, Thailand hard. The city is vulnerable to flooding due to its soft clay soil. By 2030, coastal areas and the main airport could be underwater. Locals are doing what they can to defend their coastline. Some have partnered with a university research project to replant mangroves, while others are installing concrete and bamboo barriers in the sea. Question is: will it be enough? Does anyone know of other cities similarly endangered?

Keep up the good documentaries. Please stop the fear about the climate thingy, as it's plain nonsense and a scam. And the people know that. Some not, but in time they will, just like me.

@@MrBombastic_007 7.5 centimeters per year. Things were investigated with solving plans already like 10 years ago by the Dutch water experts. Sadly Indonesia has a corrupt government and money is everything to them. So they now move the capital. And let Jakarta rot for the future. No proper plans are done for Jakarta. Sad.

Greetings from Thailand. Bangkok is also drowning from pollution as same as Chiang Mai where we are „waiting“ for the time of worst bad air created in the „burning season“. Great documentary 🎉.

We were visiting Bangkok in November and had no clue about all this. We did know about the floods, but not the predictions and concerns within the inhabitants of the city. I pick bits of this information in the video I am editing now. This dok was very insightful and helped me see Krung Thep from a totally different point of view. Thank you for sharing🎈

Most people watch video's from a phone, doing a voice over like many other video's meant for english speaking audience's do this. I have wanted to watch several video's like this, but the small white lettering that also gets blocked by other colors on the screen is hard to read. I have vision issue's anyway from the MS i have. Please choose video's that do a full voice over, because i am frustrated everytime i want to watch a video like this that looks interesting, but i can't deal with trying to read something i can barely see. I appreciate your video's, and it's not just your channel, so I'm not upset with you, just the people who make a video for english speaker's, but don't have enough sense to do a voice over so people can watch it without missing half of what they are showing because of poor translations you can't read. G-d bless.

Super city, been there for a year and it's wonderful, even in the most crowded places. By the way, Bangkok is not the real name, it's the western name. It's more beautifully name and official name is Krungthep. And that's the short version of the official name, as the whole name is like the lyrics of a song.

This documentary was probably filmed 15 years ago. Notice the Makkasan airport rail link station still under construction (FYI : airport rail link system was opened in 2010). Should at least show the exact year this doc was released in your description. If not, many might be confused and assume that it’s an up-to-date information. Not to mention the data from 2020 in comment section which might further confuse viewers about when exactly this video being filmed.
