HE JUST TURNED 90 AND SHE'S 84. THEY BOTH STILL DRIVE. THEY GO CAMPING TWICE A YEAR. OUT TO EAT EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT AND HE STAYS AT HER PLACE SATURDAY NIGHTS. HE CALLS HER 2-3 TIMES PER DAY. I'm an expat Brit that lives in the US now. Watching this show gives me a profound respect for the NHS and the people that work within it. Just to get you to the hospital over here with cost around $2000 (about 1800 quid) and health insurance (if you can afford it) will find ways of not covering stuff, absolutely appalling where people die when they don't have enough money for medical care!

I started watching these shows about 2 months ago and I sm so impressed with how the doctors and nurses take care of patients in the UK. Health care in American has gone downhill extremely every year since the early 80's and the price of Healthcare and medication is outrageous. It appears the UK also takes much better care of pain for patients than in the US. I broke my wrist 3 years ago and they called in a prescription for Motrin.

I think the US’s healthcare system is pure robbery. I live up here on the West coast in Canada and our healthcare system is so great. I remember reading this experience of a lady that went to a US hospital and later on received the bill and she called her son up and said I want you to look at this bill that I got from the hospital so he went over it and the things that they were charging her for was unbelievable. Her bill was near $15,000, and she never stayed overnight. Her son called the hospital on her behalf with her permission and wanted a detailed bill because she was just sent the total amount owing she couldn’t tell you what she was being charged for. So they both sat down together once she received the detailed bill and was in shock of what she was being charged for. You know the swabs that they use it’s a stick with cotton on the end of it and they’ll swab the inside of your cheek or if they need to wear your tonsils are break off inside a plastic tub, sent it to the lab and then get the results back? Well instead of charging her for the one swab stick they charged her for the whole box of 1000. And they found so many things that they used at the hospital that they would charge her for the hundred percent amount of an item instead of charging per piece. Once she had a meeting with the hospital with her son, she walked out only owing $900. That’s how they treat their citizens. That hospital was ready to make $14,000 on that woman when really she only owed $900. They basically steal right from the patient. There’s two professions that’s a sure winner, a funeral home and a hospital because you can’t do without them, so they can charge anything they want, but people have to start smartening up and look at their bills.

I adore and admire Amy in so many ways. She's never had it easy but she's still going strong for her age, both mentally and physically. I just love her overall attitude. Life was her teacher and it was a strict one. But people like her should give lectures i think. Lectures in school for young people. I wish her Bernie all the best and a long and healthy life! Also i'm on the same as the male nurse: i've seen my Grandfather suffer and die from COPD, lost my Grandmother to the result of an brain aneurysm and dementia. I was there when they die. I see my parents rapid decling health at the age of 63 and their refusal to accept help. So yes: i do understand him.

The same can be said of seniors who still drive and don't understand that the natural course of aging is that at that age they lose visual acuity, have slow responses. His wife needs to do more than "ask him", she needs to go nuclear on him.

I sustained a life threatening Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) from a ladder fall at home. So you'd better believe I always wear a helmet when I bike - which I've done for the last few years, as exercise. Today's helmet are inexpensive, lightweight, look good, and don't itch or feel uncomfortable, when you've adjusted them to fit.

The not wearing a helmet issue really does bother and anger me. It is an easy proven way to prevent EXACTLY the kind of situation that man is in and at his age you’d think he’d have more common sense and wisdom regarding such a simple safety method that billions of people recognize and utilize without any thought whatsoever daily. I struggle to have any sympathy for anyone in that situation other than his family because they are the ones who are going to suffer the most from any injury or fatality his stubbornness and egotistical need for control causes. 😵‍💫🥺🤷🏻‍♀️

Wow, you seem like the type who wore a mask while alone in your own home during the lockdown. A bicycle helmet does NOT prevent all head injuries. An 81 year old man is old enough to make that decision for himself. He doesn’t need you imposing your will on him. And yes, I am a cyclist.

Let this episode be a cautionary tale about why you cyclists should be wearing a damn helmet. The head injuries would have been completely preventable and he would have gotten away with nothing but a few nasty bruises. I have always worn a helmet on my bike. In fact, in the late 80s when bicycle helmets first became a thing, my brothers and I were among the first to get them. Our parents were very adamant about this. I feel naked without wearing one. Same as on my motorbike. No matter where I go or how hot it is: I always wear full leathers, gloves and helmet. No exceptions. Even when I just pop 10 minutes down the street to buy some bread. Being involved with the local volunteer fire brigade adds another bit of positive peer pressure: If I have a crash, and was NOT wearing my gear, everyone would know within hours. The guys would (rightfully!) give me soooo much crap - and I am not talking the usual friendly and loving abuse that is customary. The fact of the matter is, I would not want any of those men and women to have to sweep bits of me off the road just because I was complacent and an idiot. They are my brothers and sisters. I could not and would not do that to them.

The commentator make 12 miles seems like 100. I know that when a patient is in a trauma situation it is critical no matter the distance. I have had to be transported in an emergency situation per ambulance 80 miles (+/-). I was in a different area and had an emergency situation and I wanted transported to my doctor at the hospital I used to work in. I had emergency surgery abdomen surgery. On ventilator 33 days in ICCU due to sepsis and gangrene to my large intestine from a blood clot. I had a seizure, stroke that affected my speech and right side. I had to learn how to walk and talk again. I had a colostomy. I was not expected to live, but God and prayers got me through. I had to go to comprehensive rehabilitation and then home health. The reverse colostomy 8 months later. God is Great. I live 37 miles from a trauma center here in the USA, but 8 miles from a level 1 hospital. We due have a helicopter stationed 15 miles away, but it has specially trained paramedics and it cost about $ 10,000.00 to start it up and so much money per mile.

First responder from Australia. Its a similar system to the UK, but for one thing. We do not have a lot of sympathy for riders who do not wear a hemet...bicycle and motorcycle, despite it being the law and carrying a large fine. The stats are that if they are in an accident, 93% of the time they will have a head injury and they will come off at least once a year. When we get a call and they say "no helmet" we expect the worse and usually get it. In the ER, you will hear the groan from the nurses and doctors when a "no helmet" case come in. Even though its not admitted, I do know that they will be sparing with the pain medication in a hope that a bit of suffering has an effect. It usually does.

We lost a son at 21 in a car accident it absolutely changed our family but his brother & sister was our priority before our own that’s just instinct. To disown your child for their choices is absolutely disgusting and so selfish. The guilt meter starts at birth but to disown a child it’s their loss not his. 💔💔💔💔💔

It severed a main artery from his broken knee and had a brain hemorrhage, and he died instantly. I saw him at the hospital and he was dead. The poor mortician nearly got punch. She was smiling, explaining as she was telling me how it happened. I wanted to hurt her. 😂 He was unrecognizable. 2 things I kept in mind. 1. He did this out of love. Hoping to see our friend who owed us money and 2. I would be covered for cab fare, from my workplace to and from home. It kills me to this day. That was 30 or so years ago.

These people are waaaaay more polite and kind than most in the US. Pretty shameful here nowadays. Wish we could leave this pushing "freedom" on everyone, if they like it or not nightmare place that has turned into a place I don't recognize since God was taken out of government and schools. I do not consent to any of this madness here.

When "God" was in government and schools in the U.S., rampant discrimination against women, homosexuals, and non-whites was the accepted norm. Also, perhaps you should reflect that much of the current American madness is down to "Christian" creatures like Marjorie Taylor Greene and others who seem to have been constructed in the basement of an Alabama mega-church and sent out into the world with their little gold crosses and AK-47s. The Trump excrescence wouldn't have been elevated to the presidency without the support of American evangelicals (who, apparently, he despises).

It has nothing to do with taking God out of government and schools. I was born in the 40s and God was NOT in the schools back then. Anyone who tells you different is lying. I grew up in the Bible Belt, in Oklahoma and Texas. We did not pray in school, nor did we study the Bible. This "put the Bible back in schools" business is a POLITICAL movement that has nothing to do with how people act. I also was a nurse in ER and on several floors in the 60s, and people didn't act like this. All this violent, disrespectful behavior has started since the MAGA Republicans have started insisting that everyone look, think, worship and act like they do. And they get their tempers in a twist when they can't control everyone else. Their leader, Trump, has no manners, calls everyone names, incites violence and demands that everyone obey him. He is a terrible example, yet his followers compare *him* to Christ! What blasphemy! I don't consent to that madness.

Is the fellow who was on his bike, hit intentionally? In the US we read about a senior that was intentionally hit by 2 youth in their auto, for fun. Such an evil act.

This is the second episode I've seen (back-to-back) in which a guy suffered serious cranial injury in a cycling accident because he wasn't wearing a helmet. I see quite a few people cycling without helmets, and almost all of them are male. Many guys never grow out of their adolescent delusions of invulnerability, and they're a flipping nuisance.

Seeing the amount of cyclists in the show who are hit or have accidents, you definitely need to ALWAYS wear a helmet. After hearing what happened to Bills son, I can understand his wife’s concern that he doesn’t wear a helmet. He’s a lovely man but I’m surprised he doesn’t wear one. Hopefully that changed ☺️

I hate to disagree with the lovely lady in yellow but sometimes she. You seal the deal ( get married) you find out your partner is abusive , cheating or just absolutely not the person you thought they were and it should not be endured, it should be ended!

81 cyclist without a helmet ? That's the kind of silly thing I don't understand. I'm old and would never dream of cycling , I know my balance is not as good as it used to , I know I could become a danger to other people if I swerve unvoluntarily and not wearing a helmet is just crazy . Dude needs a reality check .😮

What a horrible answer. I suppose you are racist too. God only sees what love is in the heart and certainly doesn"t judge religion, skin colour or sexuality. You'd better start praying that he forgives your evil way of thinking. Craig is such a wonderful Doctor and a very compassionate person who saves other peoples lives without judging anyone. Please keep nasty thoughts to yourself. The world has become a horrible place because of the way people treat one another. I do hope you never will be in a situation where a gay doctor might have to save your life. Think about it. I will be praying to God to forgive you for your evil thoughts ❤🙏
