How did the quote of him saying "oh I like it" while in a tank blowing enemies away not fit? Is he supposed to be out of breath while he's sitting comfortably in a tank? I don't understand that little nit pick right there...

Pretty sure they respawn, unfortunately. But he might see how many he can spawn at once using glitches or mod tools or something.

Does Legendary feel balanced? I always prefer to play Halo on Legendary, but Reach and Halo 2 seem like they really weren't designed for Legendary, forcing me to use very specific weapons and tactics, whereas in Halo 1, 3, and ODST, every weapon and strategy feels important and viable, on every difficulty.

Halo 1 has the best legendary in any of the games. It’s like a chess game but it’s an fps. Do you go for the elite(s) or grunts first? Do you use a vehicle or weapon? What vehicle? What weapon? Do you go from the front or the back? What about grenades? These questions drive the gameplay and it all plays out in under 2 minutes in each encounter. Such a fun, but fair game. Every move you did or didn’t make is on you.

agreed. 2, 4 and 5 had some serious balancing issues on Legendary in some areas. Yea i want a challenge, but i dont want to get pissed off because of an unfair encounter. (coming from someone who has LASO 'd each title).

I hope that this one environment doesn’t get stale because I feel like the variety of different environments going from mission to mission is what made the original games feel so fresh while playing through their campaigns

Yeah I agree. Most halo games have felt sort of like a cosmic road trip through a bunch of different unique locations. Is this game just gonna be a bunch of similar looking grey structures in a forest?

All early access was just the first 4 missions, they talk about unlocking new "islands" as you progress through the game. I cant imagine some of these islands wont be snow or desert

@@hypno5690 Nope, they are only allowed to talk about the first four hours, but early access people have already played the full game. And no, there’s no snow or desert (why would there be dessert anyway? It’s a Halo ring, not the ark. I don’t think there are desserts on the rings)

Because it's Chief in particular, I give the calm in-game dialogue from him a pass. To me it actually kinda emphasizes just how badass Chief is; he's sprinting around, using the grappleshot, gunning down Banished by the dozen, blowing up their bases and vehicles, etc. all while still being calm and stable enough to speak like he's peacefully sat at a friendly FOB on a lazy afternoon. Really helps emphasize the difference between Spartan-IIs like him and more 'normal' people like ODSTs and Spartan-IVs.

Agreed. I respect his opinion-preference; but I can't imagine Chief talking out of breath during a regular encounter. Spartans 2 and 3 were built and trained to whithstand a lot of hits. A Spartan IV maybe would.

@@RamssesPharaoh it reinforces Halo 4’s big question of Chief’s (and Spartan 2s’ in general) humanity. Their lack of emotions is a huge part of their characterization.

I loved the Gravemind's dialogue in halo 2 & 3. My two favorite are: "This one is machine and nerve, and has its mind concluded. This one is but flesh and faith, and is the more deluded." "Child of my enemy, why have you come? I offer no forgiveness, a father's sins, passed to his son." Its quotes are so theatrical and grand, and I really hope to see a spectacular return.

Tbf its not too unrealistic to believe that Chief could just casually chat while ripping grunts in half as if he were sitting down twiddling his thumbs. Hard to imagine him ever really uncomfortable in this type of combat

At 12:40 you say the forerunner stuff is actual geometry now instead of just textures. From what I've seen in multiplayer, you'd be surprised how much is actually flat, but it's really well hidden with parralax occlusion mapping (effectively a better bump mapping) It's not a nitpick, if anything I find it more impressive that it looks identical to real geometry half the time

God, i hope there is scarabs and blisterbacks in the game, i mean, if you are bringing the banished in a game that is open world...then you NEED scarbs and blisterbacks hahaha.

From what I've seen: Grunts commonly fall asleep at night, and phantoms patrol the ring to find you so you can stay hidden

343 mentioned theres also endemic life that react to the cycle as well, theres supposedly gonna be nocturnal creatures that you may only see at night

One of my favorite things about the campaign is that you can actually find UNSC guns and ammo for them everywhere. In past games, you could barely find UNSC weaponry anywhere, excluding some Flood levels. Makes it feel like you have more of a choice when you want a new weapon. It also ties into the lore too, because the Banished use UNSC guns too. There’s a mini-boss type enemy at Ransom Keep that uses a SPNKR. I love how the Banished don’t care what weapons they use, as long as it can kill humans. It really adds another level of scariness to the Banished and makes them seem more intimidating. Also, I definitely get the whole talking during gameplay think with Chief. One of my favorite things about the original trilogy was that your character didn’t talk, giving you a chance to talk if you wanted to. You could talk to yourself in your head or out load, letting you basically be Master Chief, which is actually what the marketing for Infinite’s campaign is all about. A small nitpick, but I would’ve liked to see little, or even no in game dialogue from Chief. I liked dialogue from enemies, friendlies, radio chatter, and definitely Cortana in the original trilogy, but having Chief talk during gameplay is just something that doesn’t really work in Halo.

I feel like if using the equipment can make the world less enjoyable, is a fault with the equipment and it's implementation, not SkillUp. Especially since one of the main purposes of the equipment is to speed mobility. It's like if you were given a warthog in the H:CE mission 343 Guilty Spark.

I definitely agree, if you give players the “permanent power to ignore the level design” then you can’t blame them when they do exactly that and feel like the level design is lacking.

I liked your point on "I found it I found the rocket launcher" I definitely feel that way whenever I play CE. And I imagine how one would feel when you kill a boss and get awarded with his distinctive weapon.

Q/A: Two questions: 1. Do you think the campaign could benefit from having a forge mode of sorts that allowed you to build your own banished bases to attack upon completing the game? 2. With your stance on the spartan laser as the "no fun allowed gun", how do you feel about there being multiple shock weapons that can perpetually immobilize vehicles?

This is a good question. I feel that the Arc weaponry has taken the wind out of the vehicles' sails. I can't drive more than 100 meters in multiplayer without getting EMP'd by one of three weapons (the arc pistol, the shock rifle, and the arc grenades). This is already *on top* of the fact that some vehicles are already flimsy on their own. I think my record time inside a Banshee is 8 seconds before it threatens to explode.

3D artist here regarding the Forrunner Structure and materials. I haven't played the campaigns obviously but spent some time in the last couple days playing customs alone look at the details for the forerunner stucture. What I can tell is that 343 is utilizing "parallax normal maps" for their forerunner meterials which appears to depth and geometry but infact mostly doesn't. Which supprised me too. It's done is such a clever way that it looks so believable compared to older normal maps. All of these things are awesome. If you don't beleive me, look at the flat surfaces from an angle and you will see the mesh is still flat. It's impressive and jaw dropping.

Two questions, One, did the T rating take away from the feel(lack of blood mainly) Two, how often did you come across big scale battles where there are ai controlled vehicles on both sides with atleast 10 ai on each side. Did you come across these big battles at all?

Q: I’ve been saving marines and reloading checkpoint since I was a child so they hold an important place to me in halo. Are the marines capable of driving? Can I lead a convoy of hogs like tsavo highway along the ring. If not, how well do marines follow outside of vehicles in the open world. I’d love to take more marines than the razorbacks 5.

I used to do that too!! I would save every single Marine and on Legendary, by going to EXTREME lengths. Was not only a satisfying new difficulty but also something that made the same feel more real.

Put on the Mythic skull (increased health) and they'll take so many more hits to the point where the Marines are able to survive way further into the missions.

QnA: As a hardcore ce fan, I want to know if there are any of those quiet moments, where the only think you here are the footsteps of your own, a high and pitchy sound of banchee, a strong, and explosive sound of a wraith mortar or a hunters footsteps?

Oh, good point on that gameplay Chief dialogue. I can imagine me getting stuck by a Brute and Chief goes "Oh, I like it!" XD Those are gonna be funny as hell but I agree that they can take you out of a moment a bit.

Q&A: You have always been an appreciator of good sound design and the small nuances that make a satisfying explosion and other things no one else seems to care about. Do you think that halo infinite nails these things well? I havent had the opportunity to really sit down and enjoy a stream of it or play it myself ans i’ve noticed that shooters these days have very soft sound effects for guns and very disappointing explosions. everything that should sound loud and powerful seems to sound like various air guns (for lack of a better comparison) in modern AAA shooters. Is it just my Tv being terrible? is there anything that makes ur eyes flicker like the old wraith explosions in this game? Its kind’ve a pedestrian question but literally no one else cares

I am pleasantly surprised and honored to have my questions answered! It's definitely helpful to know that the "equipment" essentially become like a better version of armour abilities but the world and gameplay has actually taken them into account and that it fits well within the overall feeling of the game. I agree with the zipline idea. That would be a really cool addition and that could make for interesting plans using that if they ever decide to create a zipline that helps marine allies. I think currently the only thing I'd personally add to the equipment and your zipline idea is single use items and having to actively hunt for them, like having a zipline that was taken by the Banished and the enemies were planning to use it against the player but in taking their base, you find it and take up the ambush idea yourself. I feel enemies being unable to use equipment will make it less likely to have small, cool stories but it is still really cool how you describe the equipment working in this game.

Q: Does Heroic feel as much like the “canon” difficulty as it does in past Halo games?

How does Heroic feel like the canon difficulty? The canon difficulty would be Easy since Chief always runs face first into action.

I need to know the hunter experience, please... Halo 5 nailed them but it was still terrifying. Being unable to corner you in tight spaces, how is their combat?

Oh I thought H5 made the Hunters considerably less fun to fight. I haven’t encountered Hunters in the first 4 missions though. Joe Staten seemed to suggest they’re more like H5 hunters which bums me out a bit

@@LateNightHalo well with the open world gameplay it'd be pretty hard to make them only fire fuel rod at such a range. I suppose at times they were infuriating.

@@JMObyx Phantoms are destructible, but the explosions look so lame it's almost comical. Not at all what it looked like in Halo 3. Marines can't drive vehicles according to Mint Blitz. They couldn't really drive in the past games either, at least not without driving into a wall lol.

Does the missions feel unique? Like in the old Halo games, where something new happens every mission?

Q&A: if you were to make a Halo spinoff game, what would it be? A Halo Wars 3, an ODST 2, a Spartan Assault 3, or something unique? I personally would make a survival-horror cooperative experience set deep within the bowels of a Flood Containment Facility deep within a Halo ring. You and up to three other friends would have to make your way to the surface from the bottommost level, contending against the horror that is the Flood. To make it stand out, I would also make it so that it has that patented 'custom games' customization, allowing for anything from a hardcore, limited health and ammo and visibility experience to a fun, laid back rampage to the surface with you in a Scorpion and your friends wielding Scarab Guns. QnA: Are there any systems in place that prevent the grapple from trivializing enemy vehicles like it kinda does in multiplayer. I worry that some of the presence of enemy vehicles will be ruined by the fact that I can just grapple over from relative safety and just hijack it. Love your stuff and I’m feeling so nostalgic to see this series come back.

The Grappleshot only goes a certain distance so if you want to hijack something like a Banshee, you're gonna need to strategize a little bit.

I had two questions about the campaign!! Did you see any of the vehicles from Halo Wars 2 or any references to them? I always wanted to fly a blisterback and bombard a banished camp. My second question was if you saw anything referencing the Scarab!!

Funny you mention PS4 Spidermans comprehensive dialogue system, I was blown away by it! How you could interrupt dialogue with mission prompts or something by accicent and Peter would take his phone back out and very organically call back and carry on the conversation he was having prior

I'm posting this from the pre-Infinite times, so I'm sure people are talking about this by now, but how big of a deal was the apparent lack of biome diversity on the ring? All we've seen so far is classic Halo green hills and pine trees, does that ever get stale?

Q1: If there is one weapon you’d like to see return from previous halo games into infinite, what would it be? Q2: This one is more of a multiplayer question but what would you think of a massive war game mode like halo reaches invasion where players have larger objectives to accomplish and there could possibly be a story behind what they do. Something like battlefield ones operations game mode but with the craziness of halos vehicles such as players being able to drive a scarab.

It would be an interesting gametype to have teams take turns defending a Scarab. Maybe there's no driver, but it roams the battlefield and the players have to defend it while it does for a specific duration. That'd be pretty cool.

LOL Not that I'm complaining, but I definitely wanna just hit that Campaign button in the hopes that there was some error and Steam accidentally lets me download the game early.

I have seen some vehicles being driven in videos other content creators released. Say what you will about 343i, but they wouldn't neglect to make enemies drive vehicles--you know, that thing that's been in Halo since CE?

13:46 wait......you can replenish plasma energy in Covie/Banished weapons now!? I had that idea years ago (in Mega bloks form) for a plasma kiosk as I called it. My versions only drawback was you had to leave the weapon at the kiosk and the more powerful weapon, the longer it took to recharge the battery. That is so cool and am glad to see it implemented in game

How do the enemies and marines interact with vehicles? How much variety is there when it comes to versing enemy vehicles and can they drive UNSC vehicles? Can the marines drive you around in a tank while you use the machine gun?

I had a similar question. Earlier builds of Infinite, official screenshots and the like, seemed to confirm the DMR was in the campaign at some point but was cut. I'm keeping my hopes high that it makes its way into the game via newer campaign titles and spinoffs.

Loving the choices in infinite. With the outpost sometimes I chose to just jump the walls and mess shit up as the badass chief, other times I show up in a scorpion. My favourite it taking the razorback with marines, jumping the walls and opening the gate and letting the marines in, it feel like “the chief is back and it’s time for the UNSC to take back this ring” as I clear this base with a squad of marines. I love it all

Chief delivering his lines normal regardless of his situation makes sense though, he's a super soldier use to combat and knows how to properly pace his breathing. I do like the detail in ODST but for Chief it wouldn't make sense.

Q&A: I'm not fully expecting to see the flood so soon just yet but do the forerunner interiors ever provide a horrific atmosphere? I just got finished playing 343 guilty spark. Leading up to the reveal of the flood I love admiring the thickness in the air. Very eerie.

About the weapons of the last few games that filled similar roles to eachother: variety is the spice of life. I actually liked different weapons in similar roles with slight differences. It just felt nice to have a huge family of weapons to choose from

I agree. It made sense for the different factions to have similar weapon archetypes from a worldbuilding perspective. When the weapon selection is cut down this much it just makes me ask why the factions ditched all their weapons. Multiplayer should never guide how the world operates and the full weapon roster should stay in. Sandbox purists have no appreciation for the actually good parts of Halo

That Scrap Canon looks like so much fun to use, and I'm glad we get something in what I consider the iconic brute look. I won't lie the total lack of any spike weapons or just black brute weapons in general kinda bugs me. But I also just don't much care for the Banished's mass effect/destiny cabal aesthetic so that might just be a me thing

On the weapons, I personally LIKE when there's variation on the same weapon in the sense that it does the same thing *differently*. The Fuel Rod Gun always felt good compared to the SPNKR, being higher rate of fire but lower damage with a bounce and a short time to arm itself. It's not just the fact it does damage but the WAY it does that damage which makes it important. It's why I liked the Repeater after a fashion, it was a plasma rifle that worked differently so it changes the combat rhythm just a tad in a specific way. If it's more or less the same weapon, like the Beam Rifle and the Sniper, that's different and it's not very fun, but I like seeing how something like a SAW works that much differently than an AR.

In the multiplayer, there are chickens about, and they explode into that mist that was mentioned, but my favorite thing is that they also explode on contact with grenades too. Not when the grenade explodes, but if you nail them with the grenade. its very shocking.

I’d say the pulse carbine in mp is solid, in the right environment. If you catch someone in mid range in the open and combine it with the side kick the pulse carbine. Is fantastic in its role of shield stripping and opening up people for an easy kill the point of plasma weapons.

I have a question about the halo infinite ad that just realised I really think this was one of halo's greatest advertisments, it takes me back to the halo 3 believe ads it truly is amazing, the way it is so smooth and fluid, i had to rewatch it a few times to make sure it wasnt acting. does the ad have any correlation to the campain / story because i am really interested in the kind of empty battlefield area that appears in the ad it reminds me of fallout new vegas and how its a barren wasteland.

The pulse carbine is one of the strongest mid-long range guns in the multiplayer. Its not meant to be used up close. That being said, you did a great job covering this :).
