I didn't realize it until I started watching the series all over again, but one of the reasons Amaroq falls asleep while fishing might be because Corn bit him. You can even hear the rattle as the ice is freezing over his tail. Kitty might not have seemed guilty about what happened to Amaroq just because she gave bad advice; it might also be because in hindsight, she should have warned him about how Corn's bites tend to conk people out for awhile.

He has always seemed much more invested and empathetic than those around him. What I know of his mythology helps. He has just been portrayed, developed, and used so well in the time you've given him. @@hadiyahabib7990 Technically (from what we've learned in No Evil), all of the spirits are falling stars caught in Mamma Spider's web. So they all share a mother, and appear to have no father. Ichabod was adopted by a human family in Hollow; they later also adopted Chalchiutlicue, so she and Ichabod were raised as a family. As a result, they developed the close affection (and typical sibling squabbling) of family members.

If y'all remember, McCoy blames Kitty for why Amarok left. They felt she was to blame because she was the one who gave him the idea to fish with his tail, when really he should have had his wound checked out, but he didn't feel like he could return without getting his chores done. They thought he left because the other spirits kept messing with him, when in reality he found out how heinous the two towns really are. McCoy only sees worth in those who have a purpose and can get things done, and Hatfield will lie and deceive and use underhand tactics to get what they want. When both were willing to let a baby die just for existing, that's when Amarok broke.

I remember hearing a story with a fox and a wolf. Going off memory so correct me if I'm wrong. The fox told the wolf he can fish with his tail. Fox does it is successful. The wolf tries to do it and ends up falling asleep. Wakes up to his tail being frozen solid into the ice. I can't remember if he pulled it off, amputated from the cold or bit it off. I remember reading it somewhere in a book. If I remember right the fox eat the wolves winter food and was 'making it up' to the wolf by teaching him how to fish.
