The festival at Chateau d'Ars. I know some of the crowd but members of the group are Maxou, Fredric and manu Paris from La Chavannée. Luckily I live nearby and am there every year. Originally known as the Festival St Chartier which was founded in 1976 to honour 100 years since the death of Georges Sands, who lived a few Km from there, and wrote a novel about the Maîtres Sonneurs. ( local bagpipe players.)

This is FAR more of what should be heard in the Renn Faires I go to, instead of the "cringe rock" B-S you usually encounter... modern music with modern instruments and modern lyrics in costume just doesn't cut it for me.
@zachowon3 жыл бұрын
Depends. There are modern bands that pull off this sound VERY well. The band that starts with an E and makes Celtic music for instance. You just gotta find bands that can make it sound classic, and doesnt even have to have modern lyrics

In 19th century these sorts of folk bands added popular foreign origin waltz mazurka polka schotische. galop contredanse quadrille etc to local styles like bouree. Some Central France here Auvergne and. Limousin in 1800s moved to Paris. In early 1900s they discovered accordion and abandoned bagpipes and hurdygurdys They then created the 20th century iconic world famous accordion style of waltz polka foxtrot tango etc These are evolutions that require some time. to develop.

Musique sympa. Does someone know the title of this music? or its potential cover by another band? (Or even the name of this band, I may be able to ask them directly)
@m.o.w.richter Жыл бұрын
it is a Gavotte from Guillaume Dumanoir (1615 - 1687), Leader of the "24 Violons du roi" (the first orchestra in music-history) under the reign of Louis XIV. He was also "roi des Violons of the parisiens "Ménestriers" (city musiciens). Some of his music has survived in the "Manuscrit de Cassel" (Murhardsche Bibliothek, Kassel Germany). So it is not real "traditional" or 18th century, but maybe some of old tunes are played over the centuries. Jordi Savall has made a recording of this music, but sadly not this piece. There is a very rare and old recording from the 50s "Les 24 Violons du roi" (L'Anthalogie Sonore String Orchestra) they have played this Gavotte.
