Thanks for the video; I recently got interested in learning about Abkhazia but it seems like everything about it is all about the political situation and not about what it's like inside. This is the only English video I could find. It looks like such a beautiful place

Thanks for watching! It was an incredible experience. Politics aside - the people were very proud of their independence, and were super helpful and friendly. Very few foreigners from the West visit. Had such a great experience, can't wait to visit again, but for longer than 24 hours. This is what my day looked like.

People who are clueless about the history , provokes to make Abkhazia country in someone's eyes. Abkhazia is part of Georgia, it was and will be. For thousands of years Abkhazia was our territory, even today people have same last names ( which in these territories means that they are coming from same root) , so how one can be Abkhazian and another one Georgian if they have same last names ? But Russians Emprie and then Soviet Union did a lot of thing to change history, to feed their brains with lies and misinformation. They needed Abkhazia to gain more access on Black Sea and they did it. Today Abkhazia is full of Armenians, Turks, North Caucasian tribes, Apsuas and real Abkhazians. How can they claim that these lands are their ? You mentioned that they have there own language, yeah they do, as well as us Svan and Megrels, but that doesn't mean that we are not part of Georgia. We and Akbhazia had same kings and queens. And please, stop spreading misinformation. In 1993, more than 300.000 "Georgians" had to leave Abkhazia and became refugees and at that time only 80.000 so called "Abkhazians (Turks, Armenians, Apsuas and etc)" left there to continue living. How can you believe in such bullsh*t.

Abkhazians are georgians, the "Abkhazians" who are living now in abkhazia re circassians and they came in 19-18 century cause the circassian genocide in russia, and established in georgia, northern abkhazia, but in 1991 they betrayed georgia and claimed the nodways land as theirs, they stole it from georgia, and they also killed around 3,000-30,000 georgians who were from there and displaced 200,000 of their homes, and they do not let georgians visit the funerals that are stuck in abkhazia. @@holaandria Abkhazians and Georgians have different origins.Their languages belong to different language families, have different customs, traditions and national characters. In the Russian-Caucasian wars, Georgians actively sided with the Russians and fought against the peoples of the North Caucasus(Georgians even participated in the victory parade in Kbaada (Gubaa-dü) on May 21, 1864, together with the Tsarist Russia). The Kingdom of Abkhazia, which ruled in the 8th and 10th centuries, was a kingdom followed an active conquest policy, expanding its borders.Between the 14th and 17th centuries, some Abkhazians moved to the mountains of the Kuban (now Krasnodar) region - the northern slopes of the Caucasus mountain range. "They still live in this region under the name Abazin. Your thesis is based on the nationalist Georgian interpretation of history from 1950 onwards, put forward by Georgian literary figure and 'historian' Pavle Ingoroqva in the 1950s.It was boldly condemned by Georgian linguist and Abkhazologist Ketevan Lomtatidze. Giorgi Anchabadze, a professor of History at the Ilia State University in Georgia in his interview with the Georgian Human Rights website says: “Many famous Georgian scientists consider the Abkhazians to be ancient inhabitants of the eastern Black Sea coast.Ivane Javakhishvili, Simon Janashia, Arnold Chikobava and others even assume that Abkhaz-Circassian tribes lived on the territory of Western Georgia long before Georgian tribes arrived there; this means that they [Abkhazians] have older inhabitants on our land than we do. The Kingdom of Abkhazia emerged in the 8th century and for two centuries became one of the most powerful states in the Black Sea region.

I think it's easiest to cross border from Sochi. I think you need a multiple entry visa for Russia (different from double entry visa) but you'd need to confirm with embassy when applying. You'd also need a visa for Abkhazia. You have to apply in advance for them to issue entry visa (7 business days). Best to contact both embassies for current advice, well in advance ))
