There was legitimately a long period of time where I would play Gmod with the in-game audio settings at zero. No audio. And I would convince entire communities that I was actually deaf because of a flashback accident-- not military, just very unfortunate friends who could get their hands on stuff I ought not have played with. It's actually a really cool way of discovering details about other players you may not have known otherwise, because it completely subverts most people's expectations when interacting with you. It's a lot harder to minge without a mic.
