one of the rare servers where everyone stayed in character. of course i'm being hyperbolic when i call this server "awful" as a server where most roleplay scenarios involve you spending 30 minutes in handcuffs for crossing the road the wrong way is my idea of hell. but at least you can't fault them for being accurate to the source material.

​@@soapkill2028In serious rp serves (no matter what game it is) people from all classes have rules to comply or else they get banned or kicked from their current role also they have balance between them. I get what you mean by power corruption of some classes are over others and has more access to cool stuff. It is a general problem in gmod rp and it is the exact reason of those greedy server owner selling stupid stuffs for real money to children so progression is too hard and some classes are OP for that reason so children pay them money to habe access to these OP classes. This problem escaleted to some servers being heavily p2w. So people mostly do not take the game seriously and they don't role play properly and violate the rules eventually. But in serious role play servers no matter what kind of vip player you are, you must obey the rules. It is also cool that children and child minded people can not play in these servers because they either get bored and quit or get banned by admins but intention of RP is sticking to your role and doing your best, there is no score of what team wins or loses, it is about how you are acting well in the current situation.

So, from then on, i hid all of my anti-citizen activity and only healed people when i knew no one was watching. But an admin DID see me, and apparently it was against the rules. "well of course it is" i said. Turns out, you're supposed to get moderator PERMISSION to break the rules...

Gotta commend them for rolling with the punches, this is true improv acting. Sometimes you can't control what happens on the stage, the stage in this case being a server. Also, even if they act authoritarian, it makes sense in the settings of the Half life universe. We hate when Gmod admins ruin the fun, so we’ve kept the rules of the server light and the gameplay focused on players sorting things out themselves. Honestly? This is great RP. Most of bubs games have shitty servers and admins but this is reminiscent of DanielFromSL and people stay in character. Sure RPing as a metrocop is cringe but this is how id expect they deal with it lol

Not for synapse, its actually kinda fun to be a cop, but speaking from experience your often a baby sitter, victim, or a guy whose just got a new PTSD demon, and your also the servers first means of "soft correction" on trolls while staying in character as seen here, rampant griefers do get dealt with admins but its very discreet and rare. and while RDM does exist, it boils down to shanking a guy for his shit without giving him a chance to just give it to you or killing a guy without an actual valid rp reason, A rebel can murder a cop, but if he wants murder some non cp or combine worker, he'll need some justification, like the guy would snitch, or he's actively impeding them, didn't listen to them at gunpoint. I think the guy shooting up the clinic would get in trouble for RDM, didn't really have an RP reason to execute the poor intern like that (though that is funny XD) such things would've been handled quietly and not breaking the flow of the server or the player experience. Since actual admin intervention is rare.

Usually when server cops try to enforce the ingame rules they come across like dweebs, but the officer at 4:10 flicking on his stun baton while calling in backup using the voice changer felt genuinely menacing, like the immediate buildup to a chase scene in an actual game

Bub I think you should check out ss13, the current population is build around roleplay and most of the communities HATE when big time youtubers make videos on ss13, I would love to see you cover it at least a server for it. For example there are multiple 18+ servers which have a lot of groomers in there.
