@b- dubz I would make a landing strip and run it off of a subscription, toll, or donation system. Most likely donations. Probably get a hold of the FAA/FSDO and establish a CTAF and get the field published on sectionals as a private airfield. Call it "Lazy Acres Recreational Air-park" or something like that. The focus would be paramotors and powered parachutes, but light sport/experimental aircraft would be permitted as well. If I'm building a strip it's going to be about 2000 feet long, so might as well.

Hey, Tucker. I live in the township and was shocked to see that sign show up at the park - especially since it goes unused for so many hours of the week - especially early morning or evening. Anyway, glad you made a video to discuss. I am an avid RC pilot who has used the field and plan on becoming a Paramotor Pilot in the next few years. Doesn't a certain amount of airspace (ground level up to a certain altitude) belong to the property owner?
@MykArd4 жыл бұрын
User 2C47 There is no specific height of airspace that a property owner owns. They do have the right to use airspace above their property (eg to build a structure, plant a tree, or even fly model airplanes), and it is possible for a pilot to infringe that property owners rights either by trespassing into airspace that should reasonably be reserved for the property owner, or by creating a nuisance to the rights of the property owner (violation of privacy or noise nuisance for example). So there are some rights as a property owner, but they are not rigidly defined.

I kind of went through a range of emotions briefly there whilst watching your video. Then I felt resignation to what was probably the inevitable anyway and pissed that they would do that. You are a pioneer of the sport Tucker and have ceaselessly promoted it as the ambassador you are and for that we are all grateful. Now that the powers that be have their eye on it and are clearly pandering to the extreme minority of complainants, (yet somehow that minority have leverage?) says to me that money will become involved. So, as we all know - money talks and you have nearly 1 million, quite probably generous subscribers...wouldnt take a huge donation from each of us? wonder what that land is worth?.. I mean they could still play their ball games (for free -no permit required) and walk their dogs etc - at the newly named Tucker Gott Field of Dreams...

Be careful with your word choice you said “it’s easy for the township to ban paramotor FLYING”...the township can’t ban the flying...what they could do is ban the takeoff and landings of paramotors. Thus, limiting the access to the flying as an intended byproduct. The word choices seem petty to people outside the legal system, but with legal issues they are hugely important.
@eduaguirre54824 жыл бұрын
Well according to the sign he can't fly with the park boundaries. So basically they did ban flying
@thomascalton30674 жыл бұрын
Accurize2 is right. The township can only limit takeoff and landing spots. Once you are in the air you are in FAA federally regulated airspace. No matter what the sign says, only an FAA flight restriction can regulate where the actual flying takes place. That being said, Tucker and friends would not be helping their case by taking off somewhere else and buzzing the park right now.
@eduaguirre54824 жыл бұрын
@@thomascalton3067 So why did they ban flying over the park, which is what the sign says. So pretty much whoever put up that sign broke a law?
@thomascalton30674 жыл бұрын
@@eduaguirre5482 whoever made the sign and put it up just doesn't understand the correct legal wording. If the sign said "No takeoff or landing within park boundaries" then it would be legitimate as far as FAA airspace is concerned. No state, county, municipality, or even private landowner can restrict the airspace above the ground only the FAA.
@kahmysan4 жыл бұрын
Robert JJ Yes the park can only limit those who takeoff and land in the park, or those who operate RC aircraft and are controlling those aircraft while being physically in the park. Any airborne vehicle, RC or otherwise, may overfly the park until the FAA limits the airspace above the park, so long as the operator never touches the ground inside the park.

Well. See it this way. Here in Germany powered paragliders are regulated as microlight / ultralight. You need a proper pilot license (simplified version of a PPL) to fly them and you _must_ use air fields. Starting or landing outside an air field is not allowed. Even unpowered paragliders need a license and _must_ use special, dedicated take off and landing sites. Takeoff outside an officially registered and approved take off site is completely forbidden. You have to land at the landing site associated with the takeoff site, unless you have an extended "unrestricted paraglider license". So your situation, even with the restriction at the park, is quite luxurious.

@natemeyers68954 жыл бұрын
The township may have an additional concern about liability; specifically their own... they don't want get sued in the case of an accident, to the paramotor pilot or anyone else involved; kinda like third party insurance on your vehicle. In process of permitting these "legal" issues can be addressed and culpability can be assigned in advance. Also, they will be able to ban certain individuals who are constant f'ups. Not you of course.
