Ofc man great work I’m actually trying to get my front brakes to work a bit better

Great crystal clear video and narration with no music and excellent tip re the caliper upgrade. I needed a good look at the front suspension/spindle/hub setup for a DIY Scorpion P6 style reverse trike build that I'm designing. Banshee front end parts should be a good shortcut.

The “click click” on the 450 is actually the brake light switch engaging, also sweet ass 3rd Gen under the cover

Yes thank you, At first I didn't realize it was the brake light switch because my Banshee doesn't use one and took it off before installing the new Master Cylinder. Also thank you for the car comment! I've been working hard on it to fix/maintain every thing I can. I've had it for 20 years now and it runs like a top! 1989 IROC-Z with the 5.7 Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

I’ve got a similar locking axle nut on my banshee but it’s too big for my biggest adjustable. Where can I find an adjustable or automotive wrench big enough? It’s at least a 3” nut
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 2 ай бұрын
These type of locking nuts don't need a ton of torque so I just use a C-Clamp on the flat spots to tighten it. If yours is still shinny new just put a couple of wraps of electrical tape around it for protection. The C-Clamp way has a second benefit regarding the 5mm set bolt. I like to first pinch everything together then install the set bolt with loc-tight. This also lowers the chanced of snapping the set bolt (been there done that twice!) Its hardly worth buying a wrench big enough to work on a Steam Engine as this method works and is probably already in your tool box. Best of luck and thanks for watching and comment!

What’s the wire coming out of the reservoir ? What does it connect to???
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 4 ай бұрын
That wire is designed to be a brake light switch. You can simply leave it disconnected or remove the switch itself.

No not yet but I've been looking. I really only see this Brembo brake kit from RaceTech but its a bit pricey. Here is a link to it: racetechtitanium.com/product/yamaha-banshee-brembo-brake-caliper-stay-kit/ Thanks for watching!

Sr., What year is your banshee? Mine is 06... Will those 07 yfz calipers be compatible with my 06 banshee ? Thanks in advance.
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 8 ай бұрын
I have a 95. You can use the 07 YFZ calipers no problem. Make sure to also use the 07 master cylinder because it has more fluid volume. Additionally you can use your current Banshee brake lines since the banjo bolt is the same. This is a GOOD upgrade and wish I would of done it earlier! The front tires will lock up now if I want!

Does it have to be 07 calipers with the 08 master cylinder? Can't it just be all 08? What is the latest year that the banshee will support?
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
You can use any years from 2007 to current for the Master Cylinder and calipers. The 2006 and earlier were different. Master Cylinder Part# 5D3-2583T-02-00 Front Caliper (Right) Part# 5TG-2580U-12-00 Front Caliper (Left) Part# 5TG-2580T-12-00 I used the 07 and 08 because that is what I had. As a follow up this brake upgrade is 1000% better stopping power than stock and highly recommend it! Thanks for watching!

Did you use all the banshee brake lines?
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 11 ай бұрын
So I already had aftermarket braided brake lines installed due to the +2 +1 A-arms requiring the lines to be longer. You can certainly use the stock brake lines as the banjo bolts are exactly the same. This upgrade is worth every penny and wish I would of done it long ago. You can literally lock up the front tires on command with one finger yet are very precise as needed.

Good question. That little switch comes off with a single screw. Its the exact same switch used on my 2020 YFZ450R so I now have a spare!

Would this fit on my 02 raptor 660
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I can't say for sure as I'm not familiar with the 660 setup. Does the 660 use a single piston brake caliper?
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 4 ай бұрын
So I looked it up. The stock Raptor 660 caliper is the same caliper as a stock Banshee caliper. That means this upgrade will work for you also!

What front A arms do you have? And your thoughts on them plus or minus?
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
Hey Dude! I'm running a set of Alba Racing +1 forward and +2 wide. Aftermarket A-Arms at some point become necessary if you still have the stock A-Arms. The stock setup uses welded in ball-joints so they are not replaceable. My thoughts as a plus: Aftermarket A-Arms use replaceable ball-joints that are much larger than the stock ones. They are what is used in automobile applications. Increased total length of your quad of 1" helps the ride quality. Increasing the width of 2" increases stability and ride quality. Aftermarket A-Arms open up the use of aftermarket shocks. You will be able to adjust camber of your wheels. The minuses: Aftermarket A-Arms are manufactured by a aftermarket company. If that company goes out of business it will be difficult to cross reference replacement parts. Even though Alba racing has been around for years and are still to this day, they have made several revisions over the years to their A-Arm's causing confusion to what bushings and ball-joints are correct for mine. This has been a bit frustrating the couple of times I needed to by replacement parts but was able to work it all out in the end. Recommendations: I would highly recommend purchasing a set or two of replacement bushings, ball-joints and tie-rod ends right from the beginning so they are on hand and ready when need be. Invest in new Chrome Moly sleeves or sometimes called collars. These are the cut to length pieces of pipe that the bushings ride on. Never reuse your old ones as they will short live your bushings much more quickly. Look for A-Arm sets that are greaseable as some are not. As always thanks for watching and the great question! Additionally and as a follow up to this video's topic regarding the YFZ450 upgrade, I absolutely love them! My brakes work 1000% better and couldn't be happier with them.

@@350iroc9 awesome response 👏 You have me sold on upgrading front brakes for sure. That's next!!! I have the old fireball a-arms and the design is not good for the upper ball joints. He said that I can nolonger get the ball joints. They have new version a-arms out for the 19 inch elka shocks that I already do have. So I probably will just order a new set. Their new ball joints look similar to the alba.

@@Floridawoodsbanshee So its funny you mentioned Fireball Racing as I have a set of their A-Arms new in the box I got from a buddy that got out of the sport. Take a look at this link: shopfireballracing.com/products/copy-of-banshee-j-arms Are these what you have or an older version from them?

@@350iroc9 at the time elka and roll design were working together on the rear shock plus linkage. I had to wait 5 months for them to complete the testing. After roll design was happy with the performance elka started mass production and I received one of the first shocks with the rear link.
