@@PizzamuraProject Every early dune game ever: 1. Worm approaches harvester. (nervous sweating) 2. Carryall comes at the very last moment to save the harvester in a dramatic fashion. (whew) 3. Carryall returns harvester to refinery. (gets distracted to use income for building stuff) 4. Harvester automatically returns for more spice and gets eaten by the worm. (surprised pikachu face)

Way back when they first announced Emperor as a sequel, the video they released used this song, rather than the stuff Klepacki and the others had been working on for the new game. And FOR GOOD REASON. This song came up in Dune II often, and every time I read the books, this is the stuff that plays in my head. And the first version was written when Klepacki was 18 or so. Amazing.

When people say they like science-fiction movies I ask for their favorites and best I've heard is Star Wars. But there are those poor souls who think Transformers are science-fiction and when if they have even heard of the Dune saga they answer: Isn't that an old sci-fi movie about giant worms? It's a sad, sad day for humanity when people compare Michael Bay's garbage with Dune. The original movie needs a reboot!

Not quite tho: Ordos had Raiders instead of Trikes. Combat Tanks were all different. As for the units which were the same, the book explains they're all from the Lansraad, whose forces are unified.

Yes, Frank Klepacki's music for the Dune games was indeed inspired by the movie. The games were in fact made on the license of that movie, so they actively tried to mimic its style.

Maybe someone should create an off-brand version, but aim to totally mimick this game fully. And then make games that aren't total shit whom all aim to remove the tile system from the games (which imo are part of the charm of the games before C&C 3 came out.). 8-Bit Armies, although with Frank's own work for the soundtrack, are absolutely nothing like the old classics, and design-wise is just... so bad IMHO.

If I had the resources, I would make a "Dune 5" game. Play as Atreides, Harkonnen, and Corrino Subhouses would be: Fremen Remnants of House Ordos (replacing the Spacing Guild, given the events of 'Emperor') Ixians Bene Tlielax (Tlielaxu) Mercenaries (replacing the Sardaukar, since the Sardaukar would be Corrino units) Basically it would be conceived as a direct sequel to "Emperor".

Well, technically House Atreides would be the "good guys" of the Dune universe, the Harkonnens the villains and Ordos kind of sneaky underhanded types. Although in game terms it doesn't really matter.

Transformers is pretty great......As Beast wars. Nothing against the movies, but you can't compare them with Dune or Star Wars. I totally agree, but who would focus on Dune, when they could focus on Star wars 7-8-9, or transformers 4-5-6. Mainstream limits the options for new things.
