Well built robust little radios that are very user friendly and cost next to nothing. Great review on this excellent little radio.

@Lee-70ish5 жыл бұрын
The £18 I paid for a pair is amazing value . A mile range is truly viable . The claimed10km range and 5w output is nonsense I measured the output at 2w which is still great for the price. There not pro radios but for things like the front to rear 30 car convoy control communication I use them for they are brilliant. I've ordered a Kenwood usb data cable for £3.50 to enable some changes to be made however I won't be using the program that's included as it's seems the free Chirp online app is more user friendly. I also have found a pair of bottom loaded 12" whips for £2.20 which should increase the range by around 50%
@gunchief08115 жыл бұрын
increasing the range by 50% is exactly what i need. that's excellent.. I'm hoping for clear radio transmission and reception for about 2.5 miles or so.. 3 miles would be Ideal but i can deal with at least 2.5. miles as long as it's a reliable clear radio voice.. i use these for Bussiness applications as well as recreational

Hi how are you doing and I got my walkie-talkies today and what does MONITOR BUTTON do that should make no sense to me
@CloughReviews4 жыл бұрын
Here you go: The monitor button is a squelch control. If you press it, it allows the FM noise to pass to the speaker. Its both a way to set volume, or if your at the extreme range might allow you to hear the other party. Also just a way to know the radio is working and that you have the volume loud enough to hear the other person.

Do I need a license to use this walkie talkie radio
@CloughReviews6 жыл бұрын
No, no license needed in the UK
@rod1cooper6 жыл бұрын
It’s not as simple as that! These radios are not type-approved for use on PMR frequencies and if they were tested they would not meet the PMR regulations due to the output power being too high. Ofcom states that there are no frequencies in the UK that are licence-free, but equipment that is tested and conforms with the relevant regulations (e.g. PMR446 or MPT 1382 for CB radio) may be used on a licence exempt basis. These radios do require a licence and really should only be used by licensed businesses and radio amateurs on the frequencies allocated to them. Just because you can program them onto PMR frequencies does not mean they are legal to use there. Whilst it is very unlikely that you will have an issue due to the number of them that are now in use, by using them without a licence you are committing an offence and could be prosecuted. Basically, it’s your risk. People buy the radios and then program them to work on PMR frequencies in Europe, or FRS frequencies in US, as they are easy to get hold of, easy to program and cheaper than the ones that have gone through the approval testing process. Yes, these are great radios they work really well. The licensing issue would probably be less confusing if the manufacturer made a version specifically for PMR like Retevis have done with the RT24. Same low price, good quality and fully approved.
