As a retired long haul truck I loath "roger beeps". Late at night you could hear bull haulers miles away on their "big radios", first just by the roger beep and then talking nonsense 90 miles an hour in all their echoing glory until they blew your doors off....and faded back into roger beeps again. And then there was always "The Channel Master" sitting at home walking all over everybody and blowing out your speaker. Those "big radios" weren't legal either, but it was rare that anyone was fined or radios confiscated. You could get your CB "tuned up " at any large truck stop and some Cobras and Unidens will put out a strong signal by themselves. Still have a couple of mine and the antennas for them. And I do enjoy my Baofeng UV-5R....LMAO

However, a radio check without a call sign will get you a lesson in "the rules" from any of the "sad hams" that are listening. If they aren't going to use these repeaters then why do they care so much about "qualified operators"? Also this channel is by far the one true channel for two way radio content. Rando rocks!
