Very cool, the plant nerds in the audience really appreciate videos like this.

Your videos have been very helpful. A lot better than the cookie cutter info on the web. Thank you sir.

That white flower with the dark stems is really fantastic. I’ll be looking out for that one.

What an interesting video into your process! I understand now why you say you have to be ruthless when choosing the best and discarding the others.

That was absolutely fascinating. Thank you for sharing behind the scenes and your thought processes. I'd love to get into the industry, but I think I'm too old to get started.

Such a wonderful video and a great garden plant- I’m in Raleigh but have a beautiful blue that I got from a garden in Louisville KY…it probably would be red flagged in your breeding garden but I love it in mine! 😂🥰

I live on a dirt road in N. Georgia with tons of native white Baptisia. I've found one pale yellow but the seed is puny. One white rebloomed after being mowed by roadcrews in July, rebloom potential?

What do you do with the discarded duds? Maybe give them away or is that illegal in the breeders’ world?

I'm wondering myself.

This was very interesting! You mentioned that a few days in the 90a and the blooms will go. It doesn’t seem heat tolerant then?
@Plantdelights9 ай бұрын
High temperatures speed up flowering for most perennials. Baptisias are heat tolerant, but the blooms will fade more quickly in hot weather.

@8:55 that would be an ideal color to me. So much marketing is geared towards bright or gaudy, even the whites make my eyeballs vibrate these days. I’m on the lookout for subtlety or dusted colors to mix in with the endless “pop” of color on offer these days.

You might like Baptisia 'Cherries Jubilee' and Baptisia 'Cinnamon Candles.' Their colors are in the yellow and reddish brown range.

Great video!!! I love baptisia! Can you divide them?
@Plantdelights2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can!

@@Plantdelights Thanks! I wasn't sure. Can you only do this in the Spring or can I divide it in the Fall as well? I'm in zone 5b.

I need to eliminate one in my yard but it is tough tough,,,I'm going to have intense work to get rid of this old plant.

They really can be difficult to remove once established because of the large taproot.
