I’m a retired Army Infantryman and served 23 years on active duty. I was in Iraq in parts of 2003, 2004, and 2005 and the ROE was getting pretty ridiculous to the point I felt like we were just bait. Being an infantryman is physically and mentally tough but when you are in the Ranger Regiment it’s unbelievably difficult. Nick, much respect, God bless you, you are a true American hero, and I truly hope you find peace. Shawn, you have the best interviews, thank you for your continued service!

The Rules of Engagement kept getting worse and worse for our troops and it got to the point they even took the dogs away from our guys and they had been extremely effective but our "ENEMY" had religious problems with dogs so we stopped using them? And the leaders who handicapped our brave men and women all got promoted for losing and costing this country so much in blood and treasure.

There were many guys who came back from the mid 2000's where they said they understood the Vietnam veterans. In fact you might find, and hear stories that it was the Vietnam vets that welcomed back some these people cause they weren't fully welcomed back either. It's pretty rough stuff, and these men, and women deserve so much better.

I've said before, we can't fight a war anymore, and I think that began with Vietnam. Not that we had zero issues before, but Vietnam was the real start. And it is because of our representatives. I refuse to call them leaders. They are only supposed to be representatives. Either way you wanna call it, our govt. They are more worried about what shit looks like than what it really is, and that is simply because of the politics of getting re elected. It's gross.

9:00 - the unexpected best part of this whole interview. I like telling this story, but when I was teenager I thought I saw a UFO in broad daylight. I was somewhere in Kansas or Oklahoma, and my dad and I were unknowingly near an airbase. We saw a B2 bomber flying low and straight and it did indeed look like a UFO the entire time until it banked and turned away. So happy to hear someone else say the EXACT same thing as me. Had that plane never turned, I'd be telling people 20 years later I saw a UFO.

I appreciate this veteran for sharing his darkest moment so thankyou very much sir 🫡🙏 we need veterans to tell there stories because in todays day and age I feel the general population forgets what these men go through. Your day to day problems do not compare to what these men sacrifice to allow you to have your own problems. We are granted the freedom to have our own opinions purely because of the blood, sweet and tears these men and women put out for us, and there fight does not end when they return to home….they carry a burden for the rest of there life just so we don’t have to.

I was in the army in iraq from 2003 to 2004. Our units were 70% at best battle ready. We lacked resources and we were against an army that blended with civilians a month into the war. This is aside from stupid bureaucratic ROE and leadership you had to deal with. Thank you for letting the world know what we had to go through. At the same time people still wonder why vets are taking their lives everyday. God Bless Shawn for your platform. Take care and stay safe!

What an amazing man. It’s so hard to imagine how bad his experience was until you’re in it or being in the same situation you can’t even start to process the feelings how ur was. I think he is brilliant man. My dad was in the military, went into the queen’s guards, but had a many years as a activate guard and soldier. He said last year to my husband and I how he has seen something that people wouldn’t believe, that he wouldn’t of believed unless he hadn’t seen them, and to that day he still had the nightmares he had learned how to cope with them (he is 75) but he still has flashbacks and for a long time used to be confused if it was a nightmare or something he has actually experienced he realised it was his his brains way of dealing with it. Years ago they never got help with PTSD. We definitely need to help the people who have done military service because there’s some many homeless or them with ptsd and should receive the help they should get after everything they have done for us.

See, when I was in service. I was noticing shyt under bush 2. I'm an army vet, transportation corps. But I was told I'd be assigned to a humvi as a gunner. Which made no sense to me. But prior to that nothing that we were being told about oif made sense to me. And I got the feeling I would thrown under the bus once we deployed. So I made a hit list on our own military. I was hearing to many horror stories of the u.s. military doing bhh azz shyt. And I refuse to be the devil for the devil. Not happening. I was generally discharged with honorable conditions 2 months prior to my unit deploying.
