Bara you should hunt down the hero Rifleman, the "Diana". It can run double gauss easily but it has insane quirks for it too. You'd probably have to go with a lighter targeting computer but imo it's the best double gauss mech that exitsts in YAML.

Command Console + BC Ballistic will give you 3% more CDR. Believe me, it's worth it because of how it's additive in MW5. When you have around super high CDR already and add another 3% it's insane how much DPS you get. Because Command Console got 8% and BC 10%. Advanced BC "only" got 15%. You can add a BC Range too that way. Speedy Legs would be nice. You could go down the engine a lot and still gaining speed offsetting weight easily. Then Arm compactors to get more arm slots. Put Harjel II everywhere. And by that you created an unstoppable killing machine.

Just an FYI: cooldown affects RACs in MW5. I put two RAC/5s in the armor of the Baradul MAD-II variant and added advanced ballistic FCS, weapon mounts on the arms and targeting computer Mk 8. It has Halo-levels of TTK. Cores assaults in about 2 seconds.

Actual math: it actually tracks the buffs on the stats on the weapon in the mechlab. Base ROF: 714.3rpm. Buffed ROF: 2,500rpm.

@@axelhopfinger533 It’s I N S A N E. it’s not just the Baradul MAD-II variant either. It’s any hero mech with a ballistic cooldown modifier of -20%. The Yrrot hero Atlas (or as I termed it, the “Gat-las”) also works.

if you love that build i found a omega in my current run through put 2 uac 5 , 2 rac 5 and a rac10(p) . the rac 10 is cluster and it just strips everything .

for MG's you need the quad clan LIGHT machinegun clusters...and a MG quirk Battlemaster... that allows the battlemaster to reach out 1000+ meters with hitscan weapons.. you can erase a base before the defenders can even get to you.

Maybe in a future build you could rock twin HAG-20s on the Stone Rhino for DPS. I'm not even gonna try and justify it's viability, I just like to see a fun build.

I have a stone rhino on my play through with those, and twin er large pulse. It is a monster dps machine, and still headshots easily. Wish I had the turret mounts though.

Good video Bara, but I'm pretty sure you get the Nightstar for completing the vanilla campaign of MW5. It's a good double Gauss carrier with quirks to decrease cooldown. Not many people get it though because the vanilla storymode campaign is actually quite difficult!

@@docthorr Yeah, I remember the storymode campaign taking me a few months to get through, although I was only playing one or two story missions per evening. Oh yeah, I've had that happen to me once, that's why people say to skip the credits when you get near the end. Did you get the Nightstar though? Because my game crashed too but I found my Nightstar in my 'mech hanger but I know a few people who had the game crash on them and they didn't get the 'mech so they had to play the last mission over again. I'm not sure if that'll fix it but if you've ever installed YAML then uninstalled it, the uninstall doesn't return the vanilla game back to stock, so if you had YAML or any mod really then uninstalled it, then you might want to try doing a clean install and start a new campaign from a new seed. I've heard that fixes the crashing problem for a lot of people.

I went with an all 100 ton Lance for the last few missions as I don't like headshotting 'mechs as that requires too much focusing when you also need to be aware of what's going on around you for the end endgame missions. No story spoilers but not using the Nightstar just seemed like the right thing to do.

The 20mm Gatling gun that is ubiquitous in fighter aircraft has a range of more than a mile. Why do the the Gatling guns here have a range of less than 500 m?

All weapons in Battletech have unrealistically short effective ranges in order to keep the hex battlefield maps of the original tabletop game a manageable size. It's simply a practical size scaling issue. And the PC games simply stick to that skewed range scale in order to make the action more close quarters, also keeping the map sizes down. Otherwise the best combat strategy would be for mechs to simply snipe at each other through magnification optics from behind cover with long range weapons. Realistic but not very dynamic or fun.

Over-the-horizon missile systems are totally realistic and vastly more effective than any in-game missile system is. Present day artillery could likely wipe out most mechs from ranges far beyond anything available to a mech. Implementing them would drastically reduce the dev time and resources needed for the rest of the game, all you really need is a desk with a button on it and maybe a few recorded lines made to play over 'radio' to tell the player whether to press the button again. Of course, at that point you don't really need the player - the game has already determined whether another shot is required, it can just activate another attack automatically.

Gotta ask why you have no interest in Thermal Mass? You love heat banks and all they do is add heat capacity. Thermal Mass are automatic cool shots and are awesome for cooling

Are they one off uses for cooling or continuous use with a cooldown for cooling. If they're the former then Heatbanks would provide more value over the course of a mission.

@Covah Redro they activate at a certain heat threshold, then have a 20 second cooldown. Can be randomish, but they add so much value to cooling. When combined with a radical heat sink kit they are even better

@Covah Redro I think so. You hit that 80% heat with the radical and get the increased cooling, that combined with the Thermal Mass which dumps X amount of heat based on size every 20 seconds combine quite well

Dunno if yer gonna see this. UA and BF are just trash damage compared to single projectile weapons. Their Jam chance and dividing up the damage per projectile lowers your dps immensely. "But they're called ultra autocannons!" yes and there were EXTREME thirst quenchers in the 90s, doesn't make them great. On the topic of things you contradict yourself "I'm not gonna use it, it's not immersive" the futuristic combat mech pilot not using all his gizmos and gadgets to their full extent is like turning off the headlights on your car while out driving at high speeds in the middle of the night. You also didn't max the cockpit armor on the jägermech, it has like 16 armor instead of maxed out.
