Barbara Thompson's Concerto for 3 Saxophones

Performed at the World Saxophone Congress on the 9th July 2015 with the Orchestra Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Concerto is in three movements.

M2 Soloist Michael Arizonan(FR), Tenor Sax - Adagio, Molto Expressivo - approx 8 mins.
M3 Soloist Rob Buckland(UK), Soprano Sax - Allegro, Spiritoso Giocoso - approx 6 mins.
Composed by Barbara Thompson in 1988, it was her first large scale work (Opus No1)

I'm in the states so its taken me way too long to catch up to Barbara, certainly one of the most soulful virtuoso's I've heard in a lifetime of listening. Now I'm learning of her composition skills as well.

Nice work, good alto player but a strange tone ? Tenor sounds fat 👍 love the soprano too.

I would say a very bright alto tone and the tenor is very dark but fat is a bit more of a jazz term. But I am glad people are putting sax into good classical pieces.
