THE ROAD TO 101% OF DK64

Howdy folks, please enjoy me playing Donkey Kong 64. As a kid, I owned this game. However, after playing for like an hour or so I dropped it and played other games. I always felt disappointed with DK 64, and that it didn't feel like a real DK game. Now, as an adult, my judgment has apparently lapsed and I've decided to play it again decades later to see how it holds up. Enjoy.

Youre prolly done with the game by now, but you dont have to get all of the coins, only need 75 colored bananas per kong per level to 101%, not 100. Trust me ive 101ed this game 5 times lol. Can tell you're not playing on original hardware which is gonna make it pretty much impossible to beat the rabbit race the 2nd time. You gotta cheat. Im early in the video so maybe you figure this out

Even for me, who liked the game as a kid, when it came out, this is starting to get exhausting. I never 101%ed the game. I'm not even sure if I ever beat it. I blame chat for a big portion of this. 😡

Regardless, Barb gameplay is pretty much always relaxing and/or entertaining as hell 😅. Today I just found a few clips in my folders that I edited together from his legendary "Extended Movie Rants" Mario Maker episode. You guys all need to watch that one if you haven't yet. SO much fun. And Barb does an incredible trick. Being like "Dode" ... 🤭👍

I didn't think freezing time in majoras in dungeons makes a huge difference but if there's an accessibility then yeah, add it. I think there are some challenges like the frogs that require dungeons cleared and maybe you turn time back on for those challenges somehow

It has elements of a good game, which probably explains the draw. They just ruined its potential by cramming collectibles and poor layout and tag barrel backtracking nonsense. And having to complete the original game to be able to face the boss. Super cool to have it as an Easter egg but terrible to make it as required.

This game is the assiest ass, I'm usually pretty good at tracking a map and chuckling at Barb's struggle, but this game's level design is actually so bad it's incredibly difficult for me to create a map in my head. I'd be losing my shit too.
