What a great brace of fish mark,that chub looked huge. A friend of mine fishes the the rivers a lot and when he starts to suffer with crayfish he swears by his diversionary tatic which invilves filling a little onion net with a few mashed up sardines in,he ties to a long piece of garden string and throws it a few feet in the opposite direction to his rig,he says it really works. Another great video mark keep up the good work. Best wishes brother
@markerd5378Ай бұрын
Thanks Richard, the chub was a very welcome 7 pounder albeit on the barbel tackle but very much appreciated. I'm just glad to be able to be back putting out some more regular content for you chaps, although the video lengths could be a bit longer. Your suggestion is very good and another approach is a punctured tin of cat food on a well secured paracord. Unfortunately though in my locality certain fishing clubs will serve you a membership ban if caught doing either. In reality responsible members should be allowed to trap them whilst fishing and take them for the pot, this then may mean we would make a more regular and sizeable dent in Signal crayfish populations in many waterways.
@RichardFord-j2qАй бұрын
I agree mark ,but I would not advise eating them,you never know how much sewage/pesticides they have invested.

The chub was particularly impressive, enormous in fact, well done Mark. Your story of the lost fish mirrors mine from a few weeks ago. 2 lb rod straight into a right angle bend, 15 lb line like piano wire, clutch screwed down hard and the spool turning towards a log raft 20 yards away.. with inevitable results. No carp there, so best bet a very large barbel, enormous trout, or a pike with a taste for halibut pellets. It doesn't matter how many we catch, it's the ones that got away we remember.
@markerd5378Ай бұрын
@@borderlands6606 argh sounds gut wrenching, but as you say it does add fuel to the fire. This particular fish flat rodded me, I do have a video clip somewhere but couldn't find it to include of it ruining me. I think I may have mumbled f something off knowing I was beaten 😂

This chub was brutal! Congratulations! To me, a 7 lb chub is more valuable than a 40 lb carp. In general, I'm always happier when I catch a big, wild coarse fish than a carp, pike, or any other 'fancier' species. Do you have asp in GB?

Thanks Darren and cheers for the question. it is rarer for me to pre-bait these days. However sometimes at the end of a fishing trip if I fancy the look of another swim for a future trip then I'll drop a small amount of paste and seed in said swim.
