Cal Dietz sounds so passionate about training. He's also very humble, it is more obvious when you compare his mannerism to the other guys in this panl (or Ripetoe) that talk like: "This is WHAT I DO to MY athletes."

So lifting your toes on the way down during an RDL turns on your psoas and curling them on the way up turns on your glutes? Did I get that right?

Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if… We didn't love freedom enough. And even more - we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr I. I think often times people, especially in the strength world, dont differiciate between aerobic and cardiovascular. While strength training for "base training" in the manner described in the video can help with cardio and aerobic energy pathways and even aid in recovery in the future, it is not good for the heart. If you use STATIC lifts for cardio your hearts wall gets thicker, and that's not good. For a healthy fit heart you need either steady state activity or DYNAMIC strength circuits, such as kettlebells swings or something along those line

what if we do both eccentric and isometric contraction in one rep like 5 seconds down 3 second pause at the bottom then explosive concentric

Your body will explode. 3s isometric is a lot lighter than 5s eccentric, doing it this way will only lower the load you can possibly use for the eccentric.

Individual HR variability monitors don't, but I'm fairly certain he was talking about a team monitoring system. For example, a Catapult system that tracks and compiles information for dozens of athletes can cost upwards of 10-15k!

there seems to be much good information, but the delivery/presentation is atrocious. The idiotic "bro" laughter drowns people's phrases and is irritatingly distracting, along with irrelevant comments=attempts at some wit or something. And the whole conversation is very unstructured: jumping from one thing to another; lots of irrelevant personal info; etc. This isn't just a casual meeting of four people who are just chatting about this and that; this is supposed to be a podcast/videostream and as such it should be structured and organized. No wonder there aren't lots of views and under a thousand likes only.
