Nice saves Rusty. It's good to see even the guys with 100's & 100's of hours detecting need to take their time to find a target, sometimes they have a way of hiding! Best of luck man, and it's good to see you back behind the Etrac!
@cutaplug7 жыл бұрын
Thanks =) These pinpointers have given me such a rough time lately I think I may just get me a sunray x-1 and be done with it. It's funny cause most of my targets take less than 10 seconds to get out of the ground but the second I start to do a really good live dig like a Barber half all hell breaks lose lol.
@DugMoneyDetecting7 жыл бұрын
Cutaplug Metal Detecting I hear ya! My propointer sounded like yours, replaced the battery and it still would false, so I bought the Sunray and love it! A lot people don't know, but you can pinpoint a target in the hole with it. Take care man & GL

congrats on your first seated half.I'm hoping to be able to dig soon but things are still frozen here in Wisconsin. I may need to take a little trip to Illinois and see if I can find something.

I got a seated half several years ago but this time finally got my Barber. The Barber has eluded me forever and so glad to finally get one lol.
@JDsVarietyChannel7 жыл бұрын
Very happy to see you pull that half out of the ground Rusty! With as worn as it is you're definitely right that it could have been a spill. Those barber halves are one of the most heavily circulated US coins out there. Now I need a seated half like you got. Found 4 seated dimes, but never a quarter or larger. Holler at me when you have the time for some longer hunts. :)
@cutaplug7 жыл бұрын
Thanks JD! Now I need a silver Dollar like you got lol Will keep in touch =)
@JDsVarietyChannel7 жыл бұрын
Yeah. And I had to drive to VA to get it. LOL. The old homesteads up there are amazing. We mop up all the silver dimes and wheaties the poor Tennessee folks dropped. ;-) I can hardly even find silver quarters around here anymore.

great video, nice finds! have u ever found any good rings with ur e Trac? what would signal be? thank you for any info....
@konadog19567 жыл бұрын
Nice...got my first silver half ever not long ago...a Walker....I'm sure I'd swung over it 100 times before but that particular day I was cleaning out an area where I'd found a few silvers and old wheats of any trash signals in an older park...I dug up a pull tab and a bottle cap...replaced the plug and about 6" away I heard a solid shallow quarter tone on my F70 (pre etrac)...dug a shallow plug and there it was laying on edge about 3" deep.
@cutaplug7 жыл бұрын
haha yep those halves have a habbit of being just a few inches under. I'd say 90% of mine have been 4" or less.
@kevinmccrory23477 жыл бұрын
Great video as usual. I to like using more of a open screen and then I check the target with a discriminated pattern on my CTX. If the high tone doesn't sound any better like iron would and doesn't move around and pinpoints over the high tone I dig it. Really enjoy your videos. Please keep making them with the etrac and CTX.

Man I've learned so much from your other videos. But I have a question...why don't you use the pinpoint function on the detector? Your lucky you didn't scratch the half.

My videography is terrible shows I haven't been in a while lol. Really excited about your new series I love the idea =)
@JDsVarietyChannel7 жыл бұрын
I think the video was fine, it was that dang Garrett pointer! Is there something wrong with it or is it always that noisy? I'm using the Whites TRX right now as my Nokta RS died (gotta send it in for repair) The Whites is OK, but a bit sporadic and can get on my nerves. I like the Nokta because you can custom set the sensitivity from 1-10. So if you're in hot ground you can just turn it down a few notches and remove almost all falsing.
@cutaplug7 жыл бұрын
Man I dunno ever since I moved to TN my pinpointers have given me trouble. I have 4 of them lol. Maybe there is just one bad one in the bunch and I keep grabbing it. I think I need to investigate that more cause it drives me bananas sometimes. So the Nokta doesn't do false like that here? Does it get the depth of the Garrett?
@JDsVarietyChannel7 жыл бұрын
The Nokta can false sometimes, but if you turn the sensitivity down or ground balance it stops. And yeah, the soil is highly mineralized here, which is probably why you noticed a difference. I've never compared the depth to a Garrett, so couldn't say. If you're gonna stick with the e-trac I'd consider buying a used sun ray probe on eBay. I love those things and they make awesome live digs. :)

Can you make a video on pinpointing with the e trac
@x220rulz7 жыл бұрын
get a whites trx pin pointer ..I had 3 garrett pro pointers they beep constantly ...the whites has a on the fly tap of the button that drops sensitivity slightly to stop falsing if it starts..which is awesome when a pin pointer is driving u nuts...the pro pointer orange at you have to go into the sensitivity setting to lower if it beeps at everything...ive used a few...whites trx is the king

hello cutaplug... so I just got my etrac on Wednesday and went out all day Saturday and Sunday.. I'd been using an ace 400 before. man was the etrac hard to understand for me.. the ace 400 is bing bing when something good. while tye etrac sounds are all over the board.. i think i had the sensitivity to high first of all..made the Andy S pattern from your video and found very little with the multi conduct on then changed to 2 tone faris and found three coins including a buffalo nickel right away.. any advise? It's fairly rust ground around during here.. thanks.. really enjoy your videos and tutoring!
@mesalaney72827 жыл бұрын
Thank you sir.. I'll check into it!.. I did also like ferris better but I'm new to etrac.
@cutaplug7 жыл бұрын
If you're just starting out I would honestly run it in coin mode for a while till you get used to the signals. TTF is good if you like to dig a lot of lower conductive signals too. But even if the screen is opened up in TTF it will give falsing. As far as the settings I run it's a pretty open screen and if you run high sensitivity too it will be too much for a beginner. I would stick to stock coin mode and over time start to open up the screen more and increase sensitivity as you learn the machine. Auto+3 is a great place to start for sensitivity. GL and HH!
@mesalaney72827 жыл бұрын
Thanks sir! I will take your advise.
@mesalaney72827 жыл бұрын
Hey cut a plug.. so I'm learning the sensitivity and stuck to the stock coin pattern... I found many modern coins , 7 wheat cents and 2 mercs... thanks a bunch

Dang! I did not expect the barber half either because it would not pinpoint. Very cool! It's hard to imagine someone loosing one of those back then. I think sometimes alcohol was a contributing factor. 😜

Ya I was wondering where it was cause the depth meter was showing shallow and it gave a great signal. I think I would have found that faster without the pointer lol

I don't live there but I live close I think. I haven't hunted too much lately but once I finish up some projects I've been working on I'll probably get out more. I think they have a club up there right? Been here 2 years and still haven't been to the local club believe it or not =)

Cutaplug Metal Detecting I don't know of any clubs here but I've only been doing this for a year. I've hunted with JD and that's how I found you. I'm in the same city as JD. Yeah when ever you have some free time maybe we can get together. Take care and HH.
