It’s sad that I see this a lot with Asian Americans when their parents disapprove of career choices that aren’t your stereotypical lawyer, doctor, and engineer routes! These guys are pioneers in their craft! Good for them for breaking the mold!

I am a retired Barber Instructor. I have never seen any of my Asian Barber Brothers and Sisters at any hair show that I've ever attended. I have always been that one token Asian Barber. I know many barbers for many races and they have always been very curious as to what the Asian Barber Culture is like. I am sure they would value more videos of Asian Hair Care. Yes please, and Thank You!

Yeah, bring back more hair and style videos like you guys used to do back in the day. I like those types of videos. And I have to say, from my personal experience, if you have Asian, Native American, or Hispanic hair, I definitely recommend going to an Asian or Hispanic barber. They know your hair better and will be more able to cut it right. I started cutting my own hair and my cousins' hair because I was tired of getting wack haircuts. Our hair is thicker and grows a certain way and there's certain ways to cut it and style it that will really look good. He gave you a good cut. 💇♂

Cool segment Andrew! I got my hair cut in Chinatown from when I was a baby chad until about 16yrs old 😂 i was actually thinking of going back to Chinatown for my cuts since Asians seem to know better about cutting Asian hair.

Whether it’s worth it depends on your job. If you are on camera and in the public eye it’s definitely worth it. Not so much if you have a regular boring job! 😂

The problem with asian barbers is that they do my hair real nice and then I go home and screw it up. At least if I go to someone else, the bar is lower so I can screw it up less.

Let's try a "worth it" style video where you go to 12 Pell, then the old school aunty/uncle haircut spot, and then a chain/franchise spot (will take 2-3 months to wait for the hair to grow out right?). OR get two guests with long hair to get prom hair styles done at two different spots (with the glue and the bobby pins and the flowers and everything). OR do a decades challenge where you find old photos of your gong gong and yeye, then one of you get a cut like your gong gong and the other gets a cut like yeye, and do outfits to match (sponsored by... a clothing subscription box company!). These ideas I give to you for free! (I always get my hair cut done at the same nail/hair salon by Viet aunties, $12, but I always just pay with a 20 since the pandemic. I'm not going to be on TV anytime soon so I just need to feel fresh and clean.)

Just go to a Spanish barber(dominican especially), you get a much better fades then any asian haircut place and you spend like 30bucks at most

yes if you wanna “give back to the community”. I’ve been an Asian Kevin nguyen since the 90s, saved lots of $$$ fading my own hair

There's always going to be a segment of Chinatown barbers that will compete by undercutting (no pun intended) their rivals. Even if they offer objectively better cuts, most dudes will simply opt for the $5 experience.

I went to a Korean salon in the Bay Area. The cut was good but it wasn’t like top level shit. There were some strands that seemed to be accidentally cut off. But the haircut looked like the kpop style I wanted. I’m wondering if a male barber could do a better job

They call themselves barbers but are they not stylists as well? Cause they can do longer styles
