I’m sorry but if you expected family friendly Barbie animated movie taken to live action then you are an idiot or weren’t actually paying attention to the marketing at all. The marketing and trailers were pretty damn clear about what this film was going to be about with anyone with eyes, what’s truly impressive and needs to be studied is how stupid all of you are for not seeing themes that were obvious from the first fucking teaser to anyone with media literacy. Literally a simple watch of the trailer which has been out for months now should show you exactly what this movie is gonna be like. It was painfully obvious from the beginning, all of the trailers show the set up of it being this meta commentary on society and the way women are viewed with Barbie experiencing depression and human emotions and the mindfuck of being in the real world with these strong feminist undertones, like I’m sorry but that was obvious, that’s exactly what I was expecting going into the theatre. EXACTLY. The actual intended targeted audience of the movie knew just what they were in for and they loved it actually, it’s a critical and commercial smash hit. You can hate it all you want but this narrative that the movie is only successful because it tricked people into going is insane. This is the biggest movie of the year and it’s only getting bigger and more acclaim among the actual target audience who is clearly not you folks. Said target audience knew exactly what to expect or were pleasantly surprised, not “fooled” by a movie expanding upon themes that were oblivious at a glance to them

No, the most ironic thing is, the marketing of this movie was unintentionally based on "equality and inclusion" saying things like "if you hate Barbie, this movie is for you." The marketing was actually telling everyone "this movie is for you," while in reality, only about 9% of Western women (and 1% of men) are man-hating psychopaths, aka feminists. So really, this movie was really only for the 5% of woke people out there who proudly celebrating misandry.

At the beginning I was enjoying the comedy about the stereotypes on both sides, hoping that in the end it will teach the audience something about equality and all of that, but was dissapointed that in the end they decided that nothing needs to be changed and they went back to where they were at the beginning. Because of that all the jokes from before become just insults which is sad. Ironically the best part about the movie was Ken learning about the patriarchy which made it look really cool and it was the moment where Ken wasn't treated like shit.

@@chucklebouf5379 But what have the Barbies done to elevate female empowerment in the real world? Stereotypical Barbie assumed that the Barbies had a positive impact and would thank her, but the little Antifa human girl set her straight on that one. So they're holding the Kens hostage as a permanent underclass on the "promise" of "equality" once the real world "catches up" to... misogynistic Barbieland??? The same real world where women currently already drive, vote, own property, own businesses, write books, star in and/or direct major motion pictures 🙄, occupy 4 of the 9 seats in the Supreme Court as well as any job they work toward, and any other thing you can think of with no legal barriers (and as even the priority under now defunct affirmative action)? Some of the first people Ken meets in the real world are a woman picking up her daughter from her _place of education_ and a female doctor telling him he can't just walk into a hospital and perform surgery!!! I honestly think the ending is pretty evil looking back.

Maybe you didn't watch the movie with a clear mind and were just angry about the whole concept that was shown. The president clearly said, "it doesn't have to go back to the way it was" and the Kens did get some power in the end. They had to start somewhere and then they would rise to power just like women did in the real world. It's clearly said in the movie word for word but still men are here creating reaction and critic videos on how man-hating this movie was when it's not even true. It showed Kens journey of finding his own purpose and also showed his feelings perfectly. This movie was amazing on so many levels.

As a woman growing up playing Barbies, this movie was horrible. The first ten minutes of the movie were cute. The set was adorable and I was ready for my fun movie. I was so disheartened when I started seeing how Ken was being treated. Then they went balls to the wall out of nowhere. Preaching and demonizing every aspect of masculinity. In what world would Barbie go to prison for punching a man who slapped her ass? In California? The Barbies don’t even know where Kens live, so they are presumably homeless. They don’t allow the Kens equal representation- not allowing them a place in the presidents cabinet or Supreme Court. They demonize the men for “mansplaning” and helping the Barbies learn how to play sports correctly. They treat them like a ditz for talking about the cars they like. They undercut their sincere emotional moments when they were playing the guitar. Literally none of this was needed. The scene of Barbie looking at the old woman and telling her she’s beautiful, that was a great scene. Why can’t we have more like that? Barbie wasn’t kind, she was selfish and self absorbed. She doesn’t care about Ken’s feelings, isn’t too concerned with other Barbie’s outside of a surface level, doesn’t want to even fix her owner playing with her but does it because no oh cellulite, she lets the words of others affect her. I grew up watching Barbie be smart, kind, worried about others, and let mean words roll off of her like nothing. You can have a girlpower movie without shitting on men.

Feminism has quite literally never been about gender equality. Look up the history of it as much as I have and you'll see. Most of feminism was about women wanting more political power in the US and Europe. And even with all that said, it was still anti-male and hateful in the way it went about demanding it; no different than BLM or any other woke "activist" movement today that often hurts its own cause than helps it. Which was the case with first wave feminism delaying women's suffrage until 1919 due to all the arson and riots they caused. So yeah, feminism has literally never been about "gender equality" in proto feminism, first wave, second wave, third wave, or modern day fourth wave. That's nothing more than a PR tagline.

When someone asks Scarlett for the time of day, she is truly touched that someone would want her opinion and decides to take over the world, transforming it into a gynocentric utopia. For those who dont understand , ken was barbies boyfriend since 1964 then in 2004 they introduced blaine and she broke up with ken then and dated him for a while but reunited with ken a few years later and has been with him ever since. Now i cannot speak for all women but my understanding of ken is that he is the place holder for that little girls imaginary prince charming of her future and barbie is her very own future hopes and dreams projected onto the doll for a happy future because barbie is always happy. And barbie literally had a ken and barbie bride and groom version so they are what you made them. Most little girls dont have hate formed yet as kids are pure and held space for both men and women and played with ken too as their future boyfriend via barbie being projected as their adult imagined selves. All this nonsense hate toward men is just dissapointment and i guess all of mens mysogny toward women comes from society pushing that on them. They were advertised to play with Gi Joe from the start. A soldier who obviously has ptsd as he is imagining war when its over and cant seem to get over it. Meanwhile girls were holding space for their ken only to discover in youth later that ken is very unlike ken and very gi joe like and so the wars begin. But inside every fake gi joe facade is a ken and in every angry woke feminist is barbie. We all just want to share love and be accepted. And assuming that the other is at fault is why it keeps perpetuating. The war ends when we put down the metaphorical weapons and just accept responsibility for where we went wrong im our assumptions and refusing to understand each other. Were both at fault and not at fault at all at the same time as were conditioned. The real question that no one asks is what are wWere both wrong. Can we all just stop and just be kind and love each other already? This endless revenge loop must end. U want love and deep down you know it and yes thats all of us without exception so stop pretending we dont and projecting our hurt on each other in the form of hate when you and i both know that below all that hate is nothing but love. Not lust but real love. It may sound uncool here and a block of cheese but its nice and nice is good. As john lennon said - all we need is love. Maybe if the barbie movie actually represented barbie correctly as she has been intended then it could have been a great movie. Nonetheless in this real world we still have hope to end this war and make it a barbie world like we once hoped it would be . Thats upto us. Because we are all barbie and we are all ken. And its upto each one of us and its within oir own story. Lets go back to the drawing board and start again. Course correction.

I’m sorry but if you expected family friendly Barbie animated movie taken to live action then you are an idiot or weren’t actually paying attention to the marketing at all. The marketing and trailers were pretty damn clear about what this film was going to be about to anyone with eyes, what’s truly impressive and needs to be studied is how stupid all of you are for not seeing themes that were obvious from the first fucking teaser to anyone with media literacy. Literally a simple watch of the trailer which has been out for months now should show you exactly what this movie is gonna be like. It was painfully obvious from the beginning, all of the trailers show the set up of it being this meta commentary on society and the way women are viewed with Barbie experiencing depression, thoughts of death, and human emotions and the mindfuck of being in the real world with these strong feminist undertones, like I’m sorry but that was obvious, that’s exactly what I was expecting going into the theatre. EXACTLY. Especially from Gerwig. Barbie crying, Barbie asking “Do you guys ever think about dying?” and causing a record scratch at the party, Ken asking to be given a doctor job just cuz he’s a man, and Barbie being sexually harassed in the real world, are all in the trailer which been free to view for all of you for two months now. Doesn’t seem all that deceptive to anyone with media literacy or who payed any amount of attention. The only people the marketing “fooled” either didn’t pay any attention to it in the first place, or are seriously illiterate, cuz if you watched and paid attention to even a single one of the trailers and saw all those scenes you wouldn’t be saying this. The actual intended targeted audience of the movie knew just what they were in for and they loved it actually, it’s a critical and commercial smash hit. You can hate it all you want but this narrative that the movie is only successful because it tricked people into going is insane. Most of the actual intended movie goers knew just what to expect, were pleasantly surprised, or weren’t shocked when the movie expanded upon themes that were obvious to anyone with basic media literacy at first glance. This is the biggest movie of the year and it’s only getting bigger and more acclaim among the actual target audience who is clearly not you folks. Cry about it

It sickens me that the CEO of Mattel had the audacity to think his company was being bold, when Sound of Freedom literally just came out after being shelved by Disney for 5 years and is being lambasted by virtually every MSM outlet. The utter lack of self awareness, when there are women currently on the Mattel board, is insane.

I am going for the trifecta of not see Oprnheimer, Barbie or Sound of Freedom in theaters, and the full Monty by not seeing any movies. F all those movies... I do not care. I guess Sound of Freedom is more up front than Barbie is, because at least the Sound of Freedom supporters know they are pushing political agenda. QAnon agenda of making child trafficking and the movie a litmus test for making people virtue signal right. See, I will be told I am woke if I do not care about Sound of Freedom.

I agree with your point. I also think that movies pushing a political messages, or saying things like “Example A is better than Example B,” or, “this type of person or this specific gender or what have you is incapable of basic human emotions and should be treated like garbage.” I do think that all genders/races should be treated like humans because just because a person has black skin or a different sexual organ or a different background doesn’t mean that they should be considered inferior or of a lower position than someone of the same race, sex, etc.
@jsgoda1
@jsgoda1 10 ай бұрын
*Footnote. I was too focused on typing the above message, but black skin isn’t the only skin color that’s discriminated against, but I have no clue on what the other skin colors are called(except for black and white), so when I say “black skin” in the above comment, just know that I actually mean “ a different skin color”

@@RmonK2000 parents taking their kids. Plus the character of barbie means so much to so many females. What a perfectly sounding mother daughter film. This is also one of those movies (on the surface) that father's can take their daughters to and they can both have that moment together that may be a memory of a lifetime. I've written this similar post in other areas here because the box office really says that caring parents do exist in great numbers. It's also a signal that more new characters need to be offered to young girls. I haven't seen the film and am saddened that it isn't a rare movie that parents could universally bond with their daughters over.

Bro i feel very equal to when i'm being insulted and shamed constantly. sure bro. You didn't understand the message of the movie. First of all, the movie is satire. It's a comedy and it seems like you took it too seriously. The patriarchy is literally treated as a joke throughout the movie. The barbies on the beginning weren’t even supposed to be smart or necessarily empowering because their mindsets are as simplistic as the dolls they're represented by. People make it seem like Barbieland was a feminist utopia, but it was clear the it was meant to be seen as a flawed society since the Barbies were more dominant than the Kens. It's more of a senseless imaginary world that satires the whole "girl boss" narrative.

Yeah it's totally satire making fun of feminism. That's why greta gerwig's next project is the snow white remake where they keep talking about how she's a strong independent woman who doesn't need a man. Stop making the barbie more complex than it is. The whole thing is obvious man hating trash, simple as that

You have to know the history of Barbie to understand this movie. Barbie was the first Feminist doll from 60 years ago. She had money, a car, a house, and a job. Ken was always treated as an accessory who had no money, no car, no house, likely lived like a homeless hobo. This is not something the film invented, this is the way Ken has been for 60 years. ( I suspect Mattel did this because little girls didn't give a sh*t about Ken, they wanted to play with the Barbie dolls ) I hope they make a Ken sequel movie that might give Ken the experience that Barbie had. ( Where Barbie wants to be a real human, and by the end of the movie she gets her wish )

Ken has had a few jobs like a soldier, life guard, football player, firefighter, soccer player, ice skater, and other jobs. The movie doesn't do Barbie history very well. They don't even address that Barbie has sisters.

Just remember when feminists resent men for hating this movie, the creators didn't need to make the Barbie movie this way. They chose to make it this way. They could have made an innocent Barbie movie where Barbie and Ken go on an adventure, but ham-fisted their ultra feminist messaging in anyway. So it's not our burden to give nice feedback about a terrible movie just because it'll ruin their buzz.
