Barbie's Perfect Day Dress Tutorial (from Barbie the Movie 2023)

Some additional things (besides the back pieces): the skirt is about 3 yards (less than 3) 101 squares = 101 inches = is around 8.4 feet or 2.8 yards. I happen to have a similar waist size so this worked for me. Skirt length was about 26-28 squares (inches) depending how far up the waist you want it and how far down the leg you want it & including length for the hem and the seam allowance. Bc the skirt is the longest part, any length fabric will do. I used 44” fabric and used the excess for the accessories. Additional yard or so for the top. same amount of fabric for the lining. I used about 5 yards total for the whole project and 5 yards of lining. This would be different if you have a bigger body shape and if u make mock-ups with the same fabric. On sale it was about $40 for the fabric and the lining. A longer zipper works better. I think I used a 14” zipper bc I wanted the specific color but a 16” would work better to allow for ease of access ❤

I wish I had seen this a few days ago. This is perfect bc im not used to lining things either and I was debating what fabric to get for lining. I ended up buying a plain white cotton for it. Also the jewelry which NO other tutorial / content creator mentions. I was trying to figure out what I would use for it. The buckle and necklace / earring set are unique in that way so I didnt want to get whatever they had at the store. This vid was super helpful 💓🎀 Edit: btw they had the exact I wanted at Hobby Lobby but be careful bc there was a light version of this gingham, even lighter pink than the one I got. And they were identical in shape. The one I got was "2231298 GHM"

I think traditionally buffalo plaid was the red and black. Then the black and white was included because they were both often in flannel. Gingham was the same weave just other colours and often smaller. So anything over an inch can be called a buffalo plaid and anything not red and black can be called a gingham. So I think both are right. In stores I see them listed as ginghams and online as buffalo plaid. I think it depends on who's naming them and if there is any translating going on. Also these are available as prints or weaves.

I just bought a dress that’s ‘inspired by’ the movie dress, the gingham is hot pink instead of the lighter pink, but it’s still cute. I’m going to try to colour match the fabric for the belt & bow. I found identical flower beads to the movie on Shein, they’re white frangipanis, which is what they look like in the movie, idk why everyone calls them daisies! I glued pink beads in the centre of them. They’re plaster or maybe poly resin? Lol
