It's literally JUST costumes and set though, which does not a movie make. The storytelling was lazy at best, and just confusing at worst. Absolutely zero cohesion. A collection of scenes and random points. In NO WAY is it nominations worthy, why can't we go back to a time when basic "fun" summer movies are treated for what they ARE? I get annoyed by best picture films who don’t deserve a costume, editing, etc. category award, but they get nominated because people like the film overall.

Whether you like it or not, their performances were incredible, and While I do agree than Ryan’s Ken was a show stealer in a lot of scenes he was in, Margot’s Barbie is truly the beating heart and soul of the movie… the line delivery and the comedic timing, the physicality of a doll turning human, the emotional breakdowns and development… I really could go on and on praising her as an actress cause in every movie she is in she is nothing less than incredible. I really hope The Academy will acknowledge her performance with a nomination this year, even though more comedy based performances tend to get easily overshadowed by the dramatic ones.

One year ago, I never imagined myself being hyped for a Barbie movie! Barbie’s transformation wasn’t as predictable as I thought it would be and thank goodness it wasn’t. When the Kens take over, the plot thickens. As a young single 30 year old college grad, my inner cinephile just had to be part of this for the sake of creativity. And I can relate to Ken that being single can be sometimes depressing. But I’m trying to mainly focus on myself before facing the fear of commitment! As a semi romcom nerd, I was expecting more of a typical Barbie/Ken love story. But I ended up a graceful loser in the end. I was ready for I’m Just Ken but not the context! Barbie is one of the few surprises I’ve seen on the big screen in 2023! A surprisingly entertaining film. Congrats to everyone involved

People keep blaming it on a lack of media literacy, but it seems to me a lot of people have never read a book in their lives. It's stange.
