This week’s adventure brings me together with my good friend Tolle from @TheTolleRoad for another series of excellent collaborations! We journey to the Southern Tier of New York State for a visit to the town of Belfast to see the famous Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame. We get to meet Scott Burt, President of the Hall of Fame and curator of this amazing museum housed in the original training barns. He shows us the amazing journey of the training of John Sullivan by William Muldoon to win the legendary 1889 fight against Jake Kilrain. He brings us through all the steps Sullivan went through and even lets us use the same equipment Sullivan used himself! We finish it off with a visit to the screen used boxing ring used by Apollo Creed from Rocky II. It was a very cool day with lots to see! Do Come Along!!!
A huge thanks to Mr. Burt for truly giving us a VIP experience!!!

I admire you guys taking on a punching bag bare knuckled! Amazing to see the amount of work a boxer has to put in to make boxing an art form.

It was my first time hitting a punching bag. For some reason I thought it would be more soft. 😁 They really knew how to train them back then!

I'm pretty sure I would have gotten winded moving the equipment from the barn to the car. 🤣

Thanks for sharing another cool slide of NY history. I like Tolle's Boxing HoF shirt. I grew up about 15 miles from Canastota, and that's where the office for my first newspaper editing job was. I never covered any of the inductions, but I remember the other editor in the office being very busy that weekend.

Thanks so much! That is cool that you grew up so close to the HOF. I'll have to make my way out to the Syracuse area someday, there a few things I want to check out! Good catch on Tolle's T-shirt. He actually vlogged the HOF a few weeks ago. 😁

@@UnkleHeavy Cool, I'll check out that vlog. Yes, there's lots to do in that neck of the woods. You could knock out a handful of videos within just a few miles of the HoF.

Pretty awesome experience. It would be interesting to see JS or any other bare knuckle boxer fight a current boxer. I’m guessing the current boxer wouldn’t fare well, getting hit bare knuckle for 5 rounds or 7 if it’s a title match is a lot different. The ring was cool too but the old training equipment was probably my favorite part.

It was impressive how well preserved all the equipment was. It was basically just locked in a barn for nearly a hundred years. I certainly wouldn't want to fight John Sullivan. 😁
