Phil, the lore aspect of your channel is so underrated!

This is an awesome video. I always love an in-depth look into the last of us lore, and I really appreciate you looking at the comic as well as all the games so thoroughly. I really do appreciate that. But I've gotta defend Owen a bit. I understand some fans finding him whiney cos yeah fair, he's a little whiney lol; but Abby still, also, holds feelings for him. That's what makes their unrequited love story so tragic. Abby's obsession for revenge wedged a chasm into their love that they were not equipped to handle, so they ended it. Then, of course, they stayed in close proximity because they were part of the firefly niche within the WLF, as well as being almost family to each other and the group because of their suffering. When Owen suggests to Abby that there's more to the WLF and Joel, and later when he promises that they deserve happiness, he's asking her to take a leap of faith with him. Abby never understands that optimism about being together with him again, but I really think she wants to, because of how restrained she is when she walks away from him etc, and how destroyed she becomes when she finds that chance taken away from her. I just don't agree with so many people calling Owen out when their relationship has not completely died, and nor, I believe, their feelings for each other. But, again, beautiful video, and thank you for the retrospective.

Thanks! Interesting perspective on Owen too, which I don't necessarily disagree with. Abby definitely has feelings for him too, but I think in both the past and present of the story her priorities were elsewhere, so he lost out.

@@AKblackandredYT yeah she had a lot on her plate lol. It's like double dramatic irony too because just as Abby is ready to leave Seattle and take that leap towards happiness, Owen dies in the same way he almost died on day one.

The thing about the last of us is you truly love it or you truly hate it. Part 2 is my favorite game of all time only thing to overdo it is a part 3. I will die on a hill that Abby has a good story and a justified one at that. No ones good in this world so stop acting like it haters

It's been awhile since I've actually watched the cutscenes of Tlou Part 1 so it's nice to see you go over the lore, and point out things that I've missed, despite how many times thay I've played this game. Same thing with Part 2. After focusing on solely the gameplay for awhile, it's nice to be reminded of the story, and get prospective that I didn't think of before. We are on the "same side" of things in terms of we both like Abby, but hearing someone else explaining the story helps me understand some parts that I didn't understand at the time of playing through the story. (That's the best way I can explain my thoughts in a comment). I actually like your idea for Part 3. I don't want Ellie to be sacrificed for a cure, and your idea for narrative gives a good idea of how that could play in with things not going down that route. Overall, this is a great video! Thank you for making it.

Such a great video!!!!!!!!!!! How are you feeling about the upcoming season of the tv show? Do you think its going to be able to tell the story in the same way the game did?
@AKblackandredYT2 ай бұрын
I think it has to tell it differently (I don't think all of Ellie's side then going back to Abby in a separate season will work on TV) but I'm eager to see how it goes.
@jaydedjen110Ай бұрын
@@AKblackandredYT I'd like to see them alternate between sections; do each day from Ellie's pov in one episode, then do the same day from Abby's, and so on and so forth.
@AKblackandredYTАй бұрын
@@jaydedjen110 That's got more chance of working than doing the full 3 days with Ellie before switching IMO
