This is an extraordinary resource! I've made the switch to barefoot shoes a few months ago and your website has been very helping sorting through all the different brands. Ive also made the switch with hiking boots and have noticed improvements. One thing I struggle with is micro spikes and snowshoes with barefoot or minimalist footwear. Warmth is not an issue as the proper wool socks combat that with ease. waterproofing is also an easy task with various boot care products to assist. But any type of spike/crampon device can be uncomfortable with a boot that is less structured. I would love to see a series where you dive into combining the barefoot shoes you review with other products such as spikes, snowshoes, gaiters etc.

Yea, spikes usually don't work well with thin barefoot shoes, but there are some options more around 8-10mm that are thick enough to support them. The Softstar Switchback kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5PTkJpjbd9lrNE and Be Lenka Winter kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYq5YYKirL9pj5I are two good options. They also have really aggressive treads, so I don't even own spikes or feel that I need them. The only place I could use spikes if for steep icy hills, but generally I'm not out hiking if it's like that anyways. For gaiters, really any basic type will work. I just use some velcro ones from REI and they're fine.

I quite like the website as well. I watch your videos allot and they helped me recently in picking up the vivo gobi warmlined. Keep it up the content is very good and it does help the people looking to buy these things. In your video I got all the info I needed to make my purchase and I have been very happy with it. Appreciate you!

Oooh, nice! The Warmlined is one of my all-time fav's. So warm and comfy yet also super agile. Happy barefooting out there!

Such a widely useful tool you've built. That's some work and care! I know you're good about comparing some details that often get passed over. I'm really curious about a comparison of toebox shapes of a few Vivobarefoot models; specifically the slightly narrower, longer-at-the-big-toe taper of the FG2 vs the more boxy, blunted-at-the-big-toe ESC shape; and which one is the new AT sole more like? My feet love the ESC shape. The Decon Lows (FG2 sole) I got in the same size were too narrow, so I half-sized them up. But their shape then gives me too much length at the big toe. I think you have experience with each of these soles in various models; what do you think?
@AndrewFoltsКүн бұрын
The new AT is more regular wide like the FG2, whereas the ESC is a bit more roomy-it's the widest Vivo style. Also has a more flexible leather, which helps.

@@AndrewFolts Thank you! So is the AT also more elongated at the big toe (like the FG2) or a bit blunted/shorter at the big toe like the ESC shape?
@AndrewFolts16 сағат бұрын
@@childcrone Longer at the big toe I'd say.

@@AndrewFolts Thank you, and dang, I was really hoping it was shaped more like the ESC. The first time I stuck my feet in the Forest boots it felt like home, like they were made for me. :~)

Would it be possible to add a way to easily sort many shoes by the stack height? Like have them grouped in like 5mm increments or something?
@AndrewFoltsКүн бұрын
You can current sort by "Thinnest" or "Thickest." What's your use case for wanting them grouped in increments?

Have you tried custom barefoot shoes? Like broadwinger or gaucho ninja
@AndrewFoltsКүн бұрын
I reviewed some custom DLD sandals. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4rJepycoZV_e9U. Also some custom Softstar's. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5aWm2WVj9NrgtE Gaucho and broadwinger are super expensive and they're small companies, so I doubt they'd send me a pair for review.

That would be rad! It def seems like the simplest and most primal diet. Can't wait to get my van done so I can go on these types of adventures.
