I purchased a cheapie "green house" and it is essentially a tent with a really strong heavy frame. It also has some very good anchors. However, I'm in Oklahoma and 18 mph wind with 35 mph gusts is usual and I could see my little green house flying away like a bouncy house. So I used your method to additionally tie it down but I still need better anchors for the ground because we have a lot of silt here and it recently rained. All in all, your method helped and my green house didn't turn into a bouncy house yet. Thank you. I do wish that you would go very slow when tying the anchor loops into a figure 8. somewhere after I put the bottom loop through the top loop something went haywire and it didn't become a slip knot. I see that you kinda twisted your left hand but I till had trouble, even when I slowed down the video. I did manage to do it although I still can't replicate what I did. It was just a happy accident. I'm building my caterpillar tunnels soon and will be using your method as my defense against the wind. Thanks once again. Your channel is one of my all time favorites.

Thanks for the kind words. I think there might be a need for us to redo the low tunnel process. For end anchors in sand or silt they do make ground anchors that augur type which can be stronger.

Thanks for sharing this info. Cheap, reusing materials and effective... This video deserves many more views.

Thank you for taking your time to explain all this in a relatively short time. It was well explained. Thanks too to the camera man, he did good takes. Good job!!

The knot is called a fisherman's knot. I've enjoyed all your videos. Very informative.

No, it is not a fisherman's knot. A simple half hitch.

You’re a genius, you should contacted a manufacturer before and made it for production. I think you were the first did this kind before some farm develop it for mass production.

Thank you. The funny thing about this video, it was a very unplanned, quickly done and just grab a camera moment to help a fellow flower farmer. She was struggling with winds damaging her tunnels and needed a quick tie down. She mastered it and it was suggested to put it on KZbin. We decided that it was a pay it forward video and all the others would be too. We had help so long ago. Thank you for watching and joining our journey.

This is genius!! This replaces having to use sand bags/stones to anchor the covers, yes? If so it sure cuts down on the wear and tear on the covers and the labor.

YOUR VIDEOS ARE APPRECIATED VERY MUCH! CAN YOU LET US KNOW HOW YOU WOULD CHANGE THIS LOW TUNNEL TO MAKE IT A WINTER TUNNEL. MANY THANKS
@BareMtnFarm5 жыл бұрын
Hi @Rob Gagnon we did a blog post on our website many moons ago www.baremtnfarm.com/how-to-construct-a-caterpillar-low-tunnel/ To make this low tunnel more sturdy for snowy weather we would use metal hoops (1/2" EMT Conduit) instead of the 3/4" poly pipe. Everything else should work the same. Hope this helps!

Tony do you put an anchor on each end hoop or not?
@BareMtnFarm4 жыл бұрын
Hi @Peter Smith. Yes we do put an anchor at the end of each bed that has a low tunnel on it.

How was the poly pipe bent into a hoop to stay bent? Must be another video explaining it.

Thank you! One question though- I searched for the fiberglass fence rod and can't find anything like it in 2ft. I did see something similar at tractor supply that was 4 ft--- did you cut them down? Or am finding the wrong thing?
@BareMtnFarm5 жыл бұрын
Oh! Quite right @Dana Kern we do buy it in 4' rod size and cut them in smaller sizes where needed using a hacksaw.

Hi Tony what do you use to punch the holes in the old drip tape?
@BareMtnFarm5 жыл бұрын
@Peter Smith we use an awl, but any sharp pointed object will work. You could use a Phillips screwdriver too.

What are your hoops made of?
@BareMtnFarm5 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, The hoops inside our poly-tunnels are utility grade black 3/4" poly pipe similar to that used in irrigation. We can get this in 100' rolls from a home center store like Home Depot for about $20 USD.
