What a great song by a great Canadian band! This sounds as fresh now as it did when it was released in the early 90s. Really love the introspective flavour of the song.....Enid....I could do this and that and such and such.....I could do it all for you...BUT I DON'T WANT TO! Priceless finish!

In 1993 my parents walked by a small club in brantford, ontario and there was a sign in the window that said "tonight @ 9 Barenaked Ladies". She thought they were strippers and didn't know they were this band. Now 22 years later she's a barenaked ladies fan and is kicking herself for not going into that club.

Etigress Add another piece of trivia to that1 When BNL were scheduled to play CITY HALL in TORONTO and there was a backlash[I'M TRYING NOT TO LAUGH WHILE I TYPE THIS!!] about their name being offensive what's ironic is there is zero sex in their lyrics !! they're like overgrown kids who are great musicians !! In "Wednesday", her roommate is Enid Sinclair. BNL only mentions two love interests by name that I know: "Enid" and "Jane St Clair". Is this a subtle ode on the part of the Wednesday writing team? If the name were common like Mary or Kelly, I'd disregard it ... but Enid??

25 years on, this video looks awful. Yet back in the day I saw it just once on a Saturday morning video show and instantly fell in love with Barenaked Ladies. Took me a while to find the album though, because even in '91 a TV show just after kids programmes was a bit wary of the band name and listed them as "B.N. Ladies". Pre-internet, going around record shops looking for an album knowing only an abbreviated version of the band name... well it made it hard work and I got a lot of "never heard of them mate". Once I got that album though, I had it on constant rotation for a year. And it still owns all these years later.

I lived north of Toronto when they first hit the stage. Saw them in a tiny club(before they were noticed). OMG it was so fun.The year they were to play the New Years party at city hall I was all set to go, but the mayor at the time scratched them off the list. WHY? He thought they're name BNL was too suggestive.I didn't go. Al you dropped the ball on that one. You were better at selling used cars than being mayor bud. BNL Such a fun group of guys!!
