Fun fact: Steve Page wrote this song as a teenager. He will sometimes tell the story when performing live. It’s not just a fun tribute to Brian Wilson, it’s a song about mental health. Page (and the whole band really) are on another level when it comes to musical melodies and story telling. If you get the chance, see him live. And the Bare Naked Ladies. Not sure if we would ever get a reunion tour, but if so, it would be a dream come true for the fans.
@peterg.newton3257 Жыл бұрын
Page's split (2009) from Barenaked Ladies was prompted by his bandmates. He had been arrested for cocaine possession. Plus there were rumours about other serious inappropriate behaviour. There is zero chance of a reunion. He did perform with them in 2018 to receive an award at the Junos. It is very unfortunate cuz he was an important member of the band.

Just listening and relistening to Smiley Smile, and I'm wondering if this is some kind of creative drought because I am [Chorus] And if you want to find me I'll be out in the sandbox, wondering where the hell all the love has gone. Playing my guitar and building castles in the sun, and singing "Fun, Fun, Fun." [Chorus] I had a dream that I was three hundred pounds and though I was very heavy, I floated 'til I couldn't see the ground I floated 'til I couldn't see the ground Somebody help me, I couldn't see the ground Somebody help me, I couldn't see the ground Somebody help me because I'm [Chorus] Drove downtown in the rain nine-thirty on a Tuesday night. OMG you guys don't know what you done for me in life! First of all you did it for me and my twin sister! But she died this past summer she died unexpectedly August 2nd 2020 22. Carl I love you guys so much that we chased you down one time when you were at a meet-and-greet in Cleveland Ohio and you guys look so stressed out trying to get away from us to wasn't even funny but we both loved you so much we've loved you guys for so many years and now that she's gone. But when the old apartment comes on that was her mind's most favorite song I guess besides Brian Wilson LOL😊 but why we were listening to the old apartment we were beat each other up while listening to yourself LOL I miss her so much I just want to get into a big fight every time I hear your song ❤️❤️😊

I owned this album and I've never really listened to the flag. It just brought me to tears, beautiful song, I'm a grown man, I believe that happened one other time in my 44 years.

This song is great. Brian's band played a little piece of it sometimes in their concerts.

I liked this group when I was younger, but now I'm really impressed how creative and clean their lyrics are. Nice rhythm too

Same. They were my favorite band as a kid in the 90s, but I didn't truly appreciate their genius until I was well into adulthood.

I love these guys. I grew up listening to them in the 90s, my very first tape AND CD was Gordon. I got to see them live before they broke up - what a wonderful experience. Thank you for all the memories and great music!

@@nocheteipsum The BNLs with Steve were very much like Brian Wilson's Beach Boys -- an image of fun fun fun, but very complex music and deep melancholy in many of their ballads.
