Great video guys 👍but wow Blackpool has really changed a lot. I've got great memories going there as a kid in the late 70s early 80s, we would always stay in self catering places in Palatine Rd. The things i remember about Blackpool way back then was the kiss me quick hats, the blackpool rock, the big red cat face lollypops and the tower whippy ice cream cones which was the best i had ever tasted. My mum and dad used to take us to a chip shop called Pablos and the fish and chips were really good from that shop. The Pleasure Beach was the highlight of the holiday for me. The Alice and Wonderland ride was brilliant, i remember the little carriages had cat faces on the front and there was always a great smell just at the front of that ride, i think it might have been popcorn. I loved the derby racers and the gold mine ride as well and loved the look of the octopus ride but was too scared to go on it. The other thing i remember about Blackpool was there was always shows on at the piers with famous people from the tv like cannon and ball, One of the years we went we seen lena zavaroni i think at the winter gardens. So many good memories 💛💛

Great video the food looked really good I've had the pound burger which is really nice but I must try those fish and chips from that shop the next time I'm in Blackpool. Blackpool has just recently opened a new tramway from the promenade to Talbot gate. The pleasure Beach hasn't been the same since they made you pay to even walk through and now it's called Blackpool Beach Resort and not pleasure beach. I just check on the website and it closes at 5pm in June what's that all about. I remember it been open really late with all the lights on the rides that was the best time to go. All the scaffolding on the sand castle is a new water slide they are putting up from the roof. Looking forward to seeing you in your next video.

I remember a small roller coaster where the cars were horses that you sat on. Now that was interesting back in the day. Blackpool needs some more unusual rides (that you don't find anywhere else) in order to give it a boost. I was never a regular but when I was at Hudds. Poly in the late 70s I came to Blackpool to sit down in a deckchair and revise for my final exams on the North Pier.

Good video you two. Mark is gonna have to try the Wild Side burger next time! Can he eat a five stack like me? Shoutout to Bentley’s Chippy too, one of the very best in Blackpool. Amanda Thompson has turned Blackpool Pleasure Beach into Pleasure Beach Resort, no Blackpool in the title. Cant see it ever going back to free entry. I think she is competing with the likes of Alton Towers & Thorpe Park, but people drive to those parks specifically, whereas in Blackpool, many visitors will stumble upon the Pleasure Beach, as they used to in their 1000’s, but can’t do that any more unless they stump up £50.

re Pleasure Beach being closed. going back to 2009 we went to the Northern Rail Rugby League Cup final at Blackpoo0ls Bloomfield road between Widnes and Barrow. It was a sunday in July, just about the time the schools broke up. It said in the program; don't go to the pleasure beach after the match as it will be closed...... I didn't belive it...we went...it was closed 6.30 pm middle of July. Tower was also closed...we ended up on beach in Clevleys. My sons at the time were 11 and 9. I couldn't bleive it. From 1975-1980 me and father went on holls to Blackpool twice a year; Last week in may, or Spring Bank and 3rd week in Septhember. Always remember Sunday nights going to the Tower to watch the wrestling; Big Daddy, Les Kellet ect and then going round the arcades...we would be making our way back to the hotel by midnight ( I was only an early teenager) maybe stop off at South Pier for a final game of Air Hockey....I just couldn't believe that Blackpool was closed on a sunday night in July.... Fave memories of Blackpool..too many to mention!!! Walking illuminations, Derby Baths, first go on Wild Mouse, Dad buying me my first pint aged 14 in the Horseshoe Bar... Just being on the Pleasure beach during the illuminations...and the teenage crush on the lass I met 30th May 1979....isnt it such a shame the way it now is. Had my first Honeymoon there in 85 as well and my first Kebab in 79, which both me and Father parted company with about 15 mins later. Thanks for not being to harsh on a seaside resort people have grown up in or visit yearly when there's a few people who slate the place. It does put people off visiting which is what we don't want. Blackpool isn't always dead there are weekends and weekdays when it's actually quite busy. Think of the events coming up when it will be busy, illuminations season, the fireworks, Christmas By The Sea all three which drove in a significant amount of people last year due to how popular it was which gave Blackpool a boost. I talk to people who visit from Scotland, America etc and they seem to enjoy it. It just bothers me when folks go around slating the place. We all have different views and opinions on things like there's a couple of areas in Blackpool I just won't go near due to the uncomfortable feeling I feel but there are areas I love and others do to. Blackpool has some great attractions, the Tower being one. I think you just picked a day where it just happened to be quiet and dead but now school holidays are here it's going to be busy. You'll have to nip back if you were going to around illuminations season and Christmas and see for yourself. It was actually named the UK's friendliest town not so long ago and it is just by the friendliness of the staff in shops etc. I've been going Blackpool since I was a small boy as my family loved it and still do so we were always there during Summer and for the illuminations. Best part of the town is the lights I feel like and a few other things. Hope you can visit again soon to see how busy it is towards the end of the year if think you'll see a difference to what you saw when you filmed this video. Take care 🙂

The guy selling the burgers very very friendly great humour brilliant customer service a credit to Blackpool,it’s such a shame that Blackpool is slowly dying due to those who earned good money in its heyday not putting the money back into their business, you would think the local council would put some money into upgrading the shops and bed and breakfast,it was once a great place to visit ot anymore.

Stopped going to Blackpool years ago when you had to pay to go to pleasure beach. Do you know why Wetherspoons is called Albert and the Lion? It’s a monologue by Stanley Holloway - very funny.

Every town looks miserable in the rain .Donkeys are still on the beach and the Thomson family do still own the Pleasure Beach .Blackpool is brilliant so much to do .I work at the Pleasure Beach and its never been shut on a Saturday. It opens at 10am and shuts at 5pm , until the summer hols when we close at 7pm and 10pm most weekends .We had over 7000 people in on Saturday so its definitely not struggling 😊

shutting ay 5pm in june indicates it is struggling for footfall as people can not afford it and if the thomsons do still own it tell them to let people walk through again what harm can it do and that 7000 people you mention will have bee 20000 to 30000 20 years ago

@@NorthernersonTour Walking through tempts you to want to go on the rides or buy toffee apples or candy floss while you are strolling past or standing watching the fun.

The cost of the security on the pleasure beach was getting astronomical (not just local gangs and undesirable people, but trouble from everywhere else too) so they had to stop people being able to just walk through. One of the best events is the annual “Ride the Lights” where they close the promenade to traffic and you can cycle through the illuminations - so many people make the effort to decorate their bikes with lights, it’s a great family event, and it’s free (most years they give away goody bags too!) :-)
