bought my first Bark River Knive today ..The Aurora II in CPM 3v /Amboina Burl and Brass Pins ..HOLY Ghost !! It has IMMEDIATELY become my favorite knife .. ABSOLUTELY top quality. Took two years and then I wanted the normal Aurora .. COMPLETELY sold out .. Then I dared to buy the slightly longer Aurora II and ... BABY !!! I just soaked the knife sheath with leather care and then REALLY soaked with Snow Seal (Sheat heated in the oven and soaked with the stuff .. The leather was GREED for it (pretty dry) The best knife I will ever have And that's what I say as a German, where there are also VERY good knife brands .. But NO Bark River .. I will only sharpen this splendid specimen by hand on the stone.

I did the same thing. I wanted the Aurora, but since they were sold out, I took a chance and bought the Aurora 2. Now that I have it, I’m actually glad it worked out that way. I never would have bought the 2 otherwise, as I thought it was too long, but it handles great. I love it and I’m glad I went with the Aurora 2. Everything about it exceeded my expectations

I bought a couple Barkies because of this good interview. What M.Stewart said at the 10:00 mark really impressed me. 👏 💭 Finally, a man who values & respects women! My Bark River Scout & Cub are gorgeous. Perfect works of art & wicked sharp! Their warranty & "spa treatment " on their knives really sold me too. Well done, BRN!

It says a lot when the President of the company gives you the tours too.Its great to know another Stewart will be keeping the company going long into the future also.

I had a candadian camp knife with a beautiful burl handle chip on the edge in subzero temps. They no longer produced the knife probably due to the thin geometry that attributed to the edge failing. They made me a new golok with desert ironwood and black liners as a free replacement. Bark river is about their quality knives and ill always have a spot in my heart for bark river knives.

I've been through a tour with Mike... maybe 4 years ago. Bark River is an all around awesome company. I get tired of scandi grind knives. They have their purpose... but a great convex ground knife that requires little to no care is at the top for me. My very first influence to Bark River was our good friend at virtuovice on youtube. I have heard a lot of controversy around this company over the years. I never looked too much into it because I'm a folding knife guy. I finally watched this and I am shocked. Mike is a totally normal human. I love how he was dressed and appeared. It's great to see someone being so successful (40,000+ knives a year) and still be himself. The whole company is ran as a commune and workers are talented and respected. I just don't see how this could be fake. Everything seems authentic. I will probably pick one of these up sometime just to say "thanks for being awesome" to a great company.

Hey Woods! You a knife maker too? Ive never run a buffer but my dad spent 30 years in a buffing and polishing shop with 440 jacks. They looked and sounded real scary to me!
@MTwoodsrunner6 жыл бұрын
yup, twenty odd years....them buffers can take a knife right out of a fellers hands lickity split and send it in all sorts of directions...takes a steady hand, the correct angle and concentration...woods
@Bushradical6 жыл бұрын
Whats the best way to approach buffing? Just do it and learn that way? The buffer does seem like a tool to respect!
@MTwoodsrunner6 жыл бұрын
Turn on machine, apply buffing compound, Holding knife in both hands (one hand firmly holds knife handle while other hand merely supports the blade.) cutting edge down, firmly apply lower half of blade to wheel moving steadily hilt to tip...turn blade cutting edge up and repeat above....be sure and keep the top of the blade tilted towards you and away from the wheel NEVERRRR work above center line of buffing wheel!!!...below center line is correct. Always use two hands Never polish a 90 degree angle on a parallel line such as on the spine, but rather turn blade over , tilt blade point down and draw blade up and towards you...remember, a soft wheel will seize and rip a blade from your hand more easily than a firm wheel...finally, have a quenching tank nearby so that you can cool the blade as needed.....if the steel is too hot to touch, its too hot. of course as you know, the best way to learn is by doing...taker easy amigo and safe travels!...woods

Fantastic video & thank you. I love watching Mikes KZbin’s videos “this ones in black so it’s mine” 😆 I have owned a few of their blades over the years....gunnys, bravo, fox rivers.. plus my Blackjack 125 heavy hunter(stacked leather) which is my current go to Barky for deer & the only Bark River I now own. All were outstanding dependable knives with A2 steel being my favourite for processing deer! I haven’t really been a fan of 3v type steels in the past due to A2 being so amazing at processing deer/holds up an edge after cleaning out a Sambar(large deer species) plus its just so easier to touch up. But...I probably need to try their 3v again?!? Thank you Bark River for your outstanding products 🙌🏻 I’m very interested in their new Fox Rivers EXT-2 &/or EXT-1 with the deeper blade design - this is a must have knife for me :)

For about three years I was on the fence about getting a Bark River Bravo 1 with ramp. Part of it was I couldn’t make out the weird drama some had against Bark River. But I pulled the trigger this year. Part of the reason I bought one, I hate to admit it, was they made a few with a handle that GITD. Have to say I couldn’t be happier. It is definitely a “survival” knife in that is is a thick bar of steel with an edge. Plus it GITD really well when hit with UV.

hey I’m new to your channel but I’ve been a supporter of brk for many years now. I was enamored by the amount care these guys put into their product whether it be the 100% no questions asked guarantee, the quality of materials especially the steel, their knowledge of metallurgy, the heat treat, and the VERY friendly and helpful online community (bark river facebook group) if you have a problem mike will go out of his way to talk with you and fix any issue you’re having and I mean anything lol. That being said their knives can seem a little expensive at first but if you plan to use it or sell it later on, you’re making an investment, they don’t depreciate much in value; some even go up! any way I could blather on about brk all day but if you’re thinking about getting one join the facebook group to help guide you through the thousands of knives they offer, very kind knowledgeable folks.
