Knives Ship Free ........an interview with Derrick Bohn 2018

Brooke and I dropped in on Derrick Bohn and Jay Rouch of Knives Ship Free .com, on a beautiful day in sunny Esdcanaba MI.

I was shocked when I read about Derricks passing last night. Derrick was a great guy. He took the time to speak to me on a couple of occasions and gave me a like on some of my knife photos on Facebook. Fly high Derrick. 🕊 R.I.P. I just found out about the plan for KSF to move to Chattanooga Tn. I would've finally got the chance to meet Derrick and the KSF fam because Chattanooga is a little over an hour away from me here in East Tennessee. The family is in my thoughts.

Yeah, it sure is rough. Derrick was such a young guy and had it all going for him. He was supper cool, and will be missed.

Well said. when i was emailed about the news from the company it was very upsetting. He had just went above and beyond to help me return a knife i was dissatisfied with and free of charge. Was so impressed i bought two more knives that day because i knew my money was going to a great group of people who would do anything to please their customers. Rest in peace Derrick!

I like to make stuff...but I run into people all the time to talk knives to me and I don't understand a word. There is a whole language to it. My ULUs are made from old saws and wood from my barn.....I understand all those things, LOL

Knowing things like jimping,ricasso and choil mean nothing to me either Dave,but you make your own knives so to me that makes you a knife maker, simple as they may be,they get the job done and that's what matters most.

I always wondered where the Knife & Cutlery Store went. I didn't realize that the company was going to move to Tennessee and then the owner passed away. I live across the highway from where the store was and would go by it on my way to work. I never got a chance to go there.

Hey Take It Outside! For starters I'm amazed that name wasn't taken....it's awesome! As for filming, I'm flattered you like what we do. There is a guy who runs a site called "the recording revolution" his name is Grahm Cochrane. His channel is about recording music , but I love the way he edits.....check out his vids if you get a chance. When I was starting out you tubing I tried to edit like him. Matt Fish here, Bushradical. This is our second channel. Our other one is fairly new as well. We are complete amateurs when it comes to technology / recording / filming / etc. But, we like the "community" aspect and want so much to be a part of it all. Thank you so much for the much needed help. It is exactly why we love youtube and hope somehow to "give back" = thanks for your encouragement as well. It is a God thing. I actually bought a gas station knife once, because I just needed one quickly for one small thing. It ended up being one of my favorite pocket knives. I got lucky, I was shocked, lol. It was almost the exact same knife my kids grandpa received as a gift when retiring from his security guard career. That knife was my favorite, but the gas station knife was a close second.

Thats amazing you got a good one!! I was telling my son the other day about buying those corny survival knives when I was a kid. They were like $6 at the truck stop and had a compass on the back of the handle. I loved them, but they were junk!

I'm pretty sure I had one of those as a kid too, lol. This one was $20, and I felt bad for spending that much on a "cheap" knife, but it ended up being a good deal. My son keeps trying to steal it, lol.

So the real question wasn't answered... How many did you buy and what kinds? I can't even go to KSF's website and not spend two hours just looking at pictures of knives, I can't possibly imagine how long I'd be there after walking into their actual showroom! The only thing that would save me is my credit card would return the message, "you're kidding, right?", at how much money I tried to spend. Awesome video, thanks.

Yes They did. The day we were there Derrick was flying down south to take care of some of the logistics of the move.....a few weeks later he passed away. Really sucks for everybody. He was a really cool guy.

I actually have one high end knife. Its an L.T. Wright Genesis. Its the only expensive knife I own. LT gave it to me, and its probably the first one I grab nowadays, and its hands down the highest quality knife I own. So I already do have one......That said there were lots of awesome knives there!
