Great video (as always). I just put my deposit down for the Silver Vsn. It seems they now have the option to choose the micro-adjustment or stay with the one shown at W&W. Do you guys think I should go with the micro-adjustment? Will it make the watch look or feel any different?

@@polygoncoco For me they have been slightly overpriced in the past, but not too bad. 12,000 is ridiculous and an extra 3000 for titanium is unfathomable. That is almost half the price of what this should cost and half the price of say a Rolex OP 41. They can't justify it and the pricing has put me off IWC. That and not listening to their audience, the formula is simple.....Display back, micro adjustment on bracelet, Genta design, descent water rating (could be 150) and a competitive price point 7 or 8000 chf.

I think it's a great step to revive the Genta design again. I was crying to see the 'new' (now 'old') one after the famous 3239 iteration - which is still the best looking Ingenieur today imho. This brand new 38901 is very true to the original Genta design and I kind like it. BUT I think there are multiple problems: They have heavily increased the price, the way cheaper Pilot's watch Mark XX has the same movement and even the great adjustable clasp. And their just mentioned Pilot's watch is nowaday more iconic to me as they kept this simple design for years with just slight improvements. So for me this is the way better deal if you want an IWC with a great Inhouse movement with a much better clasp design.

Very rare to see a new edition better than the original one. Although I love the purity of the first Genta ingénieur, I really like the new model, thinner and more comfortable on the wrist. The closed case back is not an issue for me as I never look at the movement when there is an open case back. I also think that price is high but justified in my view, as IWC is a serious watch brand I have always admired (not to be compared with Chopard 😅). Also think the Ingénieur is more of a tool watch than the RO or the Nautilus, refined but more discreet and under the radar. If I am not mistaken, both IWC & Baume are using the same caliber (as sister's company of Richemont) IWC Ingenieur 40mm 32111 caliber 120 hours USD11,700. Am I right?
@Flakexbeats Жыл бұрын
Wrong. The first is an entirely new, in-house movement, the IWC 32111 Calibre. The main upgrade here is the extended 120-hour power reserve, tripling that of the Sellita-based 35111 found in the Mark XVIII.

In 2005 IWC released the Ref 3227, then in 2013 Ref 3239... both relaunches of the Ingenieur SL (with different dial variations and aligned bezel screws, and minus the in-house movement), or am i confused? So the latest version is 4.0 ? Its a beautiful watch, but the killer for me is the price. It is twice as much as the 2013 version (retailed at USD 6,600 i believe), but is it twice the watch ? Or does the link to Genta and 120hr in-house movement allow IWC to charge significantly more? Considering you've have the watch in hand, I would be interested to hear your thoughts?
@BarkandJack Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, I feel the 3227 is a bit of a sloppy edition of the Ingenieur, it’s really thick. The 3239 is stunning, but powered by a Selita sw200. This version is powered by an IWC manufactured movement, although it’s an ETA architecture, it’s built and finished by IWC. The price is high, but keep in mind, the Speedmaster was a £3000-3500 watch back in 2013, it’s now a £7,500 watch. So the price isn’t as high as people are making out.
