I really like the idea of the Tsuyosa but I just cannot fathom why Citizen put the 8 series myota inside it. Same reason I can’t believe Tissot put the 80.111, 23 jewel in the PRX. Two huge watch companies launching flagship sports watches should have put higher end movements in them imo. More tempted by the quartz PRX because it’s far better value, and cheaper. It’s also a closer match to the original from the 70s.

Here are the perfect watches in my collection 3861 Sapphire Sandwich Moonwatch, Tudor BB58 Blue, Hamiltonn Khaki Mechanical (white), Seiko King Seiko SJE083 LE, Casio G Shock GWM5610U1. Ive bought and sold a lot of watches in the last few years, and these are the ones that are closest to perfect for me and what I like. I think the Longines sector dial was a great pick by Adrian, as that is one that has been on my short list for some time, but I’d have to disagree in regards to the Longines Big Eye. I purchased that watch a couple of years ago, and it never made it out of the house before I sold it. It is a phenomenal watch in regards to specs, but the case is just too slab sided and thick for my tastes. Another great pick by Adrian is the explorer. That’s a watch I could see myself loving for sure, I just don’t like to buy pre owned, and I don’t want to spend nearly 10k for a brand new Explorer. And I agree that a good alternative to the explorer is a mark series IWC, which is one that I’ve thought about purchasing many times. I think the next one for me will be the Omega Aqua Terra 38 teak dial. That one is seemingly very underrated.

However it's my 2010 explorer that's gets at least as much wrist time as all the others combined. No setting up the date, no winding if it's worn the next day, super all day comfortable, low key, ( 99% of people don't notice it which suits me just fine ), legible without looking tool or diver, classy, discreet and it's a Rolex. I've been a watch fan for 5 years, collector for 3 years. My first was a Moonwatch in 2021. A great watch, probably the best watch money can buy under $10,000. My collection has gone on to see a DJ36, Day Date 36, Coke GMT, Daytona, Batman GMT, DJ41, OP41, as well as a Zenith Defy, Cartier Santos XL, Hublot Classic Fusion (lol). My favorite, by far, is my most recent addition: White Gold Rolex Submariner 126619LB. Its the most beautiful watch I've ever seen on my wrist. It's got history being a submariner, and its got understated luxury due to the white gold. I have worn it every day since buying it in June, with the exception of 2 days where I wore the DJ41. My current collection is now down to strictly Rolex. Minus the Day Date, I've held onto the rest. I would consider buying another Omega at some point, and am interested in Grand Seiko, VC Overseas, and GP Laureato at the moment as well. I'm 29 years old and sports watches are my style, but in 20 or so years I can see myself eyeing up a Patek if God continues blessing me in life. Nice video! Great choices. Hi Adrian, Great video. Few comments 1) VC 222 indeed has a high price but availability is not an issue. Here in the US, folks are being offered 222 as first time clients with few weeks/months wait. 2) On GP Laureato, I feel it has few shortcomings. It wears too big for its size. I have handled it multiple times and each time I have been underwhelmed on the case and bracelet finishing. I am comparing it with Alpine Eagle here (between the $11-$15k price range). Whereas GP has the better finished movement, Alpine Eagle absolutely trumps in on dial, case, and bracelet finishing, not to mention the wearability factor. So IMHO, Laureato is not even a leader within its price category, Alpine Eagle is. So that doesn’t help with the comparing it with the likes of Royal Oak and Overseas that easily sit 1-2 tiers above it. Also, now likes of Moser Streamliner, Czapek Antarctique, and Alpine Eagle XPS with the LUC movement are true competitors to Royal Oak and Overseas at the $25k~ price category. Again, thank you for the great work that you do.

It is simplicity perfected. Another option that i would have expected for the A. Lange & Söhne alternative is the IWC Portuguese collection. The base model is simple elegance and nails preportions.

I got my RZE Valour 38 because watches like the Hamilton Field Mechanical were far too expensive for me lmao. Paid £200 on Kickstarter, but it’s a little more than that now but still half the price of the Hamilton. I do wear it on one of your straps though and it’s wonderful.

Not including the bulova lunar pilot (43mm version) as an alternative to the speedmaster is criminal. Yes, bulova is a sht brand, but at least the lunar pilot is their one good watch. I’ve had the 45mm for years, recently tried out the 43mm and I love both.

Except it is more of a "homage" than an "alternative" in a sense Mr. Barker is using this word....

Well done Adrian, I really like your seemingly unbiased reflection on these timepieces and I liked the structure of categories in price ranges. Obviously, these reviews are subjective but I`m wondering why you didn't include the Zenith Defy Skyline (and Skeleton) to the group of integrated bracelet sport watches? Was it intentional and you think Zenith is not up the scratch? Thanks again for your excellent reviews, as always!

This is an excellent video with very solid suggestions. The only thing I would challenge was the commentary at the end regarding Rolex sizing. What Rolex advertises the case diameter to be and what it really is doesn’t necessarily align. As a Rolex enjoyer, it’s worth mentioning that Rolex case size specs are almost arbitrary.

My alternative to the Explorer 1 is the Sinn 556A. I've worn it from working on motorcycles to playing piano at fancy venues. It does it all (If you haven't got the funds for the Rolex).

😂 your definition and my definition of cheap is wayyyyy off.... Let us know when you have a list of stuff under 500 (ish)... even though I have the money for these really expensive Rolexes and such, there is no way in hell I'm going to spend that much money on a watch.. there are better places to put my money and into a watch it's all on saying

My favorite watch channel without a doubt.I’m happy to spend my money on MAMACOO watches. I’ve never been let down by their products

This is the most validating video ever. I have four of the watches featured (two of the eight and two alternatives)

Explorer has to be on this list. I don’t have one but I do have a homage that I love. The Tudor black bay gmt I do have (opaline) and love, just differently. Haven’t went the Rolex path just yet, but maybe one day. It’s just hard to spend that kind of money on a luxury item that there are close and very good alternatives to, that keep great time too. Great video!

I know very little about watches so I was thrilled and excited to find my Tissot PRX on here. Who knew. 😂

My watch was purchased 2 years ago from MAMACOO and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.

One I feel that you really missed. And that is my first Rolex and many peoples first Rolex the one that has stood up to the test of time. And that is the magnificent EXPLORER II POLAR DIAL! I purchased mine in 2003, the very last day of 2003 I believe when I was in Hawaii at the Hyatt Regency gift shop. Pay $3800 at that point in time consider it as one of the all-time perfect watches within your selection, regards

I am currently wearing my Bulova Lunar Pilot. Don't hate on its Quartz movement. It's almost certainly the most accurate stand alone timepiece I own. And it's a good alternative to the Speedmaster. Certainly far better than a Moonswatch.

The FC Highlife is an omission from the int bracelet alternatives. I was in at my local multi-brand AD around New Year and checked one out. I was impressed and was told that they'd be happy to do a deal. Long story short, I received a text around Black Friday and offered one at 50% of asking (so little more than PRX money). Why not?, I thought. And I've been truly surprised by how much I wear it as an alternative to usual toolish daily. A crackin' watch.

Love this video - I have to say, now with the Christopher Ward C60 GMT, we have a whole new ballgame... Love all those watches, thank you

Another alternative inline with the Tissot PRX and the Christopher Ward is the Nivada Grenchen F77. Stunning watch from a company with a proper history.

With the 1815, I'd throw in the blancpain leman even though it's discontinued. To me it's the quintessential classic watch, everything about it is just perfect from the tech specs to the general layout of the dial and the way that they finish it. I have the dual time version and I basically wear it everyday because not only does it work in formal situations, it's a sports watch through and through. When I got this thing I actually was looking at a JLC master control and while both watches are absolutely fantastic, I went with the blancpain because it had something special. I've never liked the GMT Master 2, something about it just looks too clunky to me. My father gave me his 80s submariner and while that watch is pretty big, it still is wearable. Every time I've tried to wear a GMT Master 2 from the 2000s, it's just never jived with my wrist. My favorite complication is dual time, GMT, UTC, or world time (I work as a software engineer and have colleagues all over the world) and I would absolutely pick up a explorer 2 or a tutor GMT, the one that looks like the explorer 2 is pretty nice, over the GMT master 2.
