Omg I love the old footage from 98. I grew up in a turn of the century farmhouse in the 90s with all original barns on the property. Their is no smell like an old barn. I love buildings from that era and the older generation who worked in them during their glory days. I tried absorbing as much of the older generations' wisdom and knowledge as much as I could, because once all the old timers are gone many of their skills will be a lost art.

I loved the old video. Randell looked like he was ready to work back in the day. Old barns just cry out to me. There is several in my area that are just so sad. Ether they need to come down and be repurposed or repaired. It’s cheaper to bring them down as repair. And old barns are so dangerous. Twenty five years ago, I helped hang tobacco in several barns. I wouldn’t even try that now. I would just as soon be the ground man. Thanks for posting this video.

Tim, Really great seeing the clean-up progress. Would like to see more videos of the rest of the clean up progress. I'm sure you'd like to see additional production out of your land, but the biggest part is no longer farming around that old homestead. From your batwing video of this place, it appears to be a good size bit of land. And for your comment on the weather, this is typically the time of year I always loved doing this. You are moving enough to keep yourself warm, and don't have to worry about wasp or bees.

There used to be an outfit in New England that bought old barns. To refurbish the lumber to build custom new homes with or used certain pieces in the project. Evidently there are some folks who like the old post and peg system. And highlighted the pieces throughout the home without covering it all up with wallboard.

If it were mine, I would have tried to reclaim as much of the good wood as I could have. That stuff brings GOOD money for people who like to renovate houses and use the old barnwood for backsplashs, behind shelving, and even covering an entire wall in a room. Also, there looked to be some beams inside it that were big enough they could have been made into mantles, etc. Good job though, especially when no one gets hurt.
@delmagana27634 жыл бұрын

To dispose of all that bad wood I would go get a burn permit. Then make a spot. To pile the debris up away from the grain bins and set a match to it. Then separate the tin and put it into a trailer and the wood into the burn pile. Afterwards you could spread the ash or make one final hole and put the remaining pieces and ash into it. This way you do not have to worry about any nails finding tires.

I saw the big 4wd dually tractor in the background at one stage, was thinking that you might be able to do the monster truck act once you had the skillion down, drive up and over the remains of the skillion to get it crushed to ground level, then let it at the main section to drop and crush it. Could have been good fun and a different way of doing it, but maybe expensive if the roof cladding, nails or bolts got into the tyres.

The building coming down and listening to you all discussing how you were going to go about doing it was interesting, but for me, the thing I most appreciated about the video, a man with to much pride and who often paid a price for moving to fast in his life, was seeing and hearing once again our Good Lord's plan and direction unfold right before our eyes In the Wisdom of an old, tired and done it all salt of the earth farmer's words. For us TTWT believers, Job 12:12 (NAS) "Wisdom is with aged men, With long life is understanding." and for strength and peace of mind during these uncertain times, Psalm 124:8 "Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth."✝️👈🙋♂️ Katriel, please never let the world and success cause you to forget your Christian values, or separate you from your beautiful family for gold nor attention.
