Now that you show the engine compartment I realize the differences in the older 140's. My '77 has an internal ballast resistor internally in the coil. Another difference is my tractor has a spin on oil filter. Very clean tractor for a '64 model.

Yes sir. Originally, your 1977 model would have had a ballast resistor mounted on the factory alternator, but over the years people repair and change stuff around. You never know what has been done until you start looking close, but you also have to know what was originally there. I know 99% of the little changes and features offered over the years.

It's amazing that International kept the exact grill design for 15 years. I own a 1977 model that looks identical to yours.

Yes, the 140 came out in 1958 and was a different sheetmetal design. They kept that design until mid-year 1963, when it changed to the design like this one and like yours. That 2nd design ran until 1979 at the end of production. The only other cosmetic design changes worth noting, or quickly noticeable were the (3) styles of hood decals.

I do from time to time Mark. What make and model are you wanting? I have a couple of really nice original belly mowers. So nice you'd think they were brand new if I put a fresh coat of paint on it.

@@ALTractorPickers Not really stuck on any particular model just want a reliable tractor to do some mowing with. I think the 140’s with the square grill look pretty neat. I’m about 45 minutes north of Huntsville.
