Hey Budget! Please wear safety glasses when taking brakes apart. My buddies Dad. Years ago was taking brakes apart for his Son's Muscle car. It had drum brakes all the way around. He wasn't wearing safety glasses. One of the springs broke as he was turning it to come off. Bam! It hit him in the eye ball. Blinding him instantly. I never will forget as his Dad told the story to me. How bad it hurt. Plus being blind in that eye. Also many people watch your KZbin Channel. Show them safety first. So they can continue to work on there car or trucks into the future. Shawn.

It's great to see your hard work on these vehicles. Brings me back to my youth when we played around with old American cars ( in Australia). back in the 60's we were involved with a 1938 60 Series Caddy, a 1957 Buick Century, a 1946 Oldsmobile, 1948 Pontiac and a 1938 Chevy. We've all moved on to Euros, Japanese and Korean vehicles , but your show brings it all back. It's wonderful to see your recycling of old parts and save these senior citizens for another life. Thank you so much.

Those 57 Centurys are beautiful. I was recently at a 10-15 car car show in a tiny town and the guy organizing the thing had a 57 Century Riviera that had never been restored and I was floored by that thing. He started it up for me and let me sit in the drivers seat. Loved it more than the restored 57 Bel Air that was right next to it.

Excellent basic restoration, Michael! It brings back memories. I was 16 in 1962. My dad wanted to trade in his 1957 Ford station wagon and went down to the dealer in February. As he was walking through the garage on his way to the office, he spotted a 'leftover' 1961 Galaxie 500 Sunliner in the wash bay. Mom talked him into trading for it: $1200 for the wagon against $3249 for the Sunliner (reduced from $4100+ because it was a 'leftover'. Golden yellow with a white top - and I got to drive it! In fact, about two years later, I stole the heart of my current wife while I was driving that car. She teases me all the time about that car. Thanks for the memories!

Back in 1961 we were living in Brooklyn N.Y. and one day my father had his white four door 1960 Galaxie in for servicing in far Rockaway Ford , in those days the dealers would give you a new lend out car to use as your vehicle was being repaired, and on this particular occasion far Rockaway Ford had given my father a black four door 1961 Galaxie with a red interior auto trans looking just like the car that you had featured in this video. I still remember that day cruising the streets of old Brooklyn N.Y. In that car it was a new dealer demo car at the time.

Love the videos and content! With the condition of your seats...it would be really easy to take them apart and make a pattern from the old cover and sew your own new upholstery. Be prepared, The material is pretty expensive. With the correct needle (to allow for thicker thread) and thread you will be amazed what a good household sewing machine will do. Be sure it has metal gears or it will shear the gears in the machine. Great job on the headliner! Mouse smell killer, clean first w/ soap and water, spray with white vinegar/water 50/50 mix and eucalyptus oil, some people use peppermint oil (20 drops or more) to 24oz spray bottle. Spray till dripping wet let dry, repeat until you are satisfied. Keep up the great job of bringing back the old rides!😎

I think it's incredible that they still manufacture spare parts for old models like this one, in my country it's already difficult to find parts for cars from the 90s, let alone the 60s, you would have to manufacture them because there aren't any on the market to buy, your car is really cool!

First car I drove was a 61 Galaxie, black interior, ivory and black interior. The original 390 had a crack in the water jacket. My brother and I replaced it with a 352 cu. In. (4bbl) and installed a C6 trans. I installed dual cherry bomb mufflers, deep dish chrome reverse (with F70×14 white letter Goodyear "Wide Ovals", on the rear. F70x14 black wall tires on stock rims (black with chrome trim rings and baby moons) on the front. Never forget the sweet exhaust rumble. Used to race on Woodward Ave. and Telegraph Road in Detroit. Could set the timing by ear.

Dude! How many times as a 12 year old kid from 12-16 my brother and I replaced brake shoes and drums on our dad’s various cars! A couple were 62 Ford’s. One a Custom, the other a Country Squire Station Wagon. Not to forget Pop’s BABY!!His favorite. A 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible. Red on black with a 390ci, 4 barrel carburetor. That was his “mid life” crisis car. That Ford was Pop’s baby. 😂 My God the memories you’ve stirred! 👍❤️😂 I’m a teenager again. Sitting on the ground at the left rear brake drum prying that sucker off! Covered in dirt, crud, and brake dust. 😅

Stunning car. Love the chrome and black, so imposing. Definitely needs beauty rings and whitewalls to make the wheels pop! It's great to see more people saving these four-door sedans after so many years of being overlooked in favour of two-doors. You can have just as much fun driving and wrenching on them, and they're way more practical for daily use.

Hey Ho! Just a line to comment that the attention to detail[s] is to be commended. Your the first I've seen that greases the contact points of the brake shoes, the NHV reduction with the gas tank, and the fine work of cleaning and painting the engine bay. This writer was 11yrs old when this Ford was new- they were a fine car of the era, but I would rather have my EV. Great workmanship here
